What do you think are great albums/DVD's from artists that aren't in the top 500?

Here are the ones that I came up with:

Eternity X - The Edge
The 3rd and the Mortal - Painting on Glass
The 3rd and the Mortal - In This Room
After Forever - Invisible Circles
The Gathering - How to Measure a Planet?
The Gathering - Souvenirs
Angra - Temple of Shadows
Stream of Passion - Live in the Real World (DVD)
Stream of Passion - Embrace the Storm
Paatos - Kallocain
Agua de Annique - Air
Elfonia - This Sonic Landscape
Dial - Synchronized
Within Temptation - Mother Earth

Smile

Agree with 'The Gathering'.

I'm not sure and I'm not going to check but if After crying's Overground music is not in that list it makes a good choice IMO.

I've rated all of them and reviewed at least 2. It's hard for me to find the free time to write many reviews though.

For me, I'd say:
Can - Tago Mago
Taal - Skymind
Discus - ...tot licht!
Magma - M.D.K
King Crimson - Lizard
The Residents - Not Available
The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
Univers Zero - Ceux Du Dehors, 1313
+ many, many RIO/Avant albums without enough ratings

you've got to be kidding me... there AREN'T in the top 500

yet another reason why these lists are pointless....  prog... great prog.. is supposed to challenge the listener.. and if reviewers can't acknowledge that and review the album accordingly... the reviews are worthless as well

Some of those artists are in the top 500. I assume you're listing albums whether the artists are in the top 500 or not. Smile

There are some albums which are not in the top 500 just because they're still only in my band submissions workings. Wink

Agreed as well and written some beautiful reviews for all of their albums Smile (excluding the first two).

Agreed on Paatos as well.

I won't open the ranking system discussion as well, but as long as even a classic record like Operation: Mindcrime is only around the lower bound of the top 500, I feel the new algorithm has a bit of a strange weighting of average rating and number of ratings... on the other hand, the lightly esoteric character is fun and challenges self-cleaning.

Heh. I would say that album (their 1st) is by far the best out of their 3 albums. I actually don't like their 2nd and 3rd albums.
