Here’s OMNI on YouTube. They incarnate the crrent preservation of Prog Andaluz’s heritage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOXUn9oaLt4 & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6GTHSf-wKM
Yes, there's a noticeable Flamenco component in their composisitons, yet their sound is essentially symphonic, mostly inspired by classic Camel and mid-70s Genesis, with the lead guitarist being particularly influenced by Oldfield. Not unlike Gotic or Imán Califato Independiente, this is a symphonic prog band. How much longer will OMNI remain mislabelled in the Prog Flok thread of PA? I've already informed about this logistic issue some time ago but nothing was done about it. It's evident that OMNI is mainly symphonic. Kind regards. |

I support your vision Cesar, I was also surprised to notice that Omni is not in Symphonic Prog when my review appeared on the homepage a few weeks ago:
OMNI — Sólo Fue un SueñoReview by erik neuteboom (erik neuteboom)SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Symphonic Prog Expert Omni is a Spanish six piece band, rooted in the late Eighties. This is their third album, released in 2007 and again it contains pure instrumentally music. The sound of Omni on Solo Fue Un Sueno has obvious echoes from Seventies Camel and also reminds me frequently of Dutch Camel-inspired bands Lady Lake and especially Odyssice (it could have been their new album!): very melodic, flowing and often sensitive guitar work (compelling in Noche En Malandar, fiery in Telescopio de Papel en biting wah-wah in Espíritu Libre), omnipresent interplay between guitar and keyboards, some pitchbend driven Minimoog sounding soli (like in Telescopio de Papel and the dreamy final song Salto al Abismo) and finally the use of saxophone (sultry in El Tren De Rota). Like Seventies Camel the sound by Omni is like a ‘warm bath’ as on the Camel albums Mirage and Moonmadness, my favorite Camel-era. Along the strong guitarwork, the keyboard player colours the compositions very tasteful with varied vintage keyboards like the Fender Rhodes electric piano, the violin-Mellotron (wonderful intro on Noche En Malandar), Minimoog synthesizer, Solina string-ensemble and the Hammond organ (swirling solo in the alternating highlight Espíritu Libre). This is not very original symphonic prog but it sounds wonderful with very good work on guitar and keyboards and tasteful arranged compositions. My rating: 3,5 stars. |

Hi everyone, this is César Inca. I started this thread last November and still OMNI is stuck with the very inaccurate Prog Folk label. This is essentially a SYMPHONIC PROG band and the other wrong label has been enduring for too long, really too long. I, as a Symphonic Prog specialist and an OMNI specialist as well, believe that the right label should be assigned to Omni as soon as possible, with no further delay.
Thank you for your attention. Kind regards.

Why don't you post it in the Symphonic and Prog Folk Teams' threads?
EDIT: I just did it. Edited by Tuzvihar - April 06 2008 at 06:47 |

Cesar, the E&O team has no control over genre placement - that's the responsibility of the genre teams. That's no excuse for letting this rest for 5 months, but please be aware that E&O only works on fixing mistakes and omissions in bios and discographies.
@Tuz: thanks for picking up! |

Thank you for the clarification and now I'm more aware about the distribution of responsiblities here (well, I usually forget about these details, my bad...).
This whole OMNI affair will be solved quickly since I know that more than one member is OK with the modification, but again, I think this is a very slow team... Anyway...
Thanks again - AND KIND REGARDS!!

The Omni issue was debated a year ago by the Symphonic Team (of which you were part at least in tag) and the Prog Folk Team but you never joined a single session, probably you don't remember but we involved the Prog Folk team in the we (the two teams) agreed with Sean Trane that the best place was Folk Prog, around thesame date we moved TRIANA to Symphonic..
So we are not slow, we did the things on time and you had your chance to express your opinion, but you never had time to join us.

All right then, probably the main reason was that I was never involved in these discussion sessions. I apoligize for my previous hurried judgement to all other Symphonic Prog team members.
Kind regards.
