[edit: bah! I had these promo images of Enslaved where they look eerily like Dethklok, and it was funny, but they wouldnt link.]
hmmm.... interesting.
That's hilarious, though. Apparently stealing sheep is totally metal. They got tired of sulking in the woods and decided to do something (sort of) constructive. ![]() Edited by GoldenSpiral - October 23 2007 at 11:46 |

![]() ![]() Good for them -- but aren't such bands normally supposed to disembowel the sheep on stage during the drum solo, then roll around growling in the entrails? Whatever will their fans think?

Pleasant dreams, my dear:

On a serious note, it is a great exmple of the double standards people have, and shows quite learly that taking something that does NOT belong to you IS theft, that may be a sheep, or freely downloading music that you have not paid for.
How are musicians supposed to live if their craft is given away freely? Would all craftmen be persuaded to give thier goods freely?

(Oh, and ...er.... thanks for the piccy Peter, having had an opportunity to study it, I think I will pass if you don't mind..... Lovely boys though they no doubt are, there is only room for one poster boy on my wall!)

oh, ok, I put it in here as
a] I didn't know they were on the archives (I shoulda checked!)
b] it was more about their stunt than about their music!
But I feel suitably corrected. Thanks!

Let this be a lesson to you. Next time you want to make a topic about, say, a new Michael Jackson scandal, first make sure he isn't in the archives.

I remember Enslaved used to be adamant about being labeled as Viking Metal because they did not want to be involved in the Black metal image. Is this still true today or was that just during all the church burnings?

don't think they ever considered themselves the usual 'evil' black metaaal stuff, they always wanted to explore new sonic realms, like the tr00 Vikings they are!!!!! hehehe

I do know that they used to sing in old Norse before recognition got them singing in English to please their large market in the USA.
Despite the black metal image, I understand that they are quite sweet boys.... really

As well as a great band. And yes, they've always distanced themselves from the typical black metal image.

A cute stunt, but not entirely a fair comparison. The Liberal Party wants to compensate the artists and composers with some kind of compensation system similar to that being used in the radio industry. Enslaved didn't want to compensate the owner of the sheep, so they put it back. Shows in one single move why electronic and physical ownership cannot be compared. |

Piracy Kills Music makes me sick... A local artist was basically threatened in person by people from Piracy Kills Music because he released his album freely on the internet. Instead of actually trying to adapt to the market, the labels are all blaming piracy for their sales dropping...
