Topic: Seeing Nickelback live vs Watching Tora Tora Tora Posted: June 19 2007 at 14:27 |
My wife is still puzzled as to why I preferred to stay home, have a few buddies over for a few beers & watch Tora Tora Tora on DVD, with the stereo full blast. This is on the Canada day weekend, it'll be warm, so the fans will be going full tilt to keep the kids' bedroom cooled off, meaning we can crank the sound. Am I wrong to take advantage of this opportunity to watch a classic film ?

Any option but Nickelback... ... At least I would do that...
Tora Tora Tora is fantastic, by the way... a TRUE GREAT SERIOUS movie about Pearl harbour......
I'd stay and crank the stereo with the sound of airplanes and angry-sounding japanese people rather than the noise of pointelss rock and angry-sounding unoriginal-americans

That's "Pearl Harbor" to you Americans.
Watching Tora Tora Tora! is better than watching Nickelback, even though Tora Tora Tora! is factually full of errors.
Still, it's better than "Pearl Harbor" the film... ewww!

Seeing as Nickelback is the worst band ever, I think the choice is easy. The only reason to go to a nickelback show would be to throw things at the band.

She actually thought they were'nt bad(she said the worst I have dragged her to in recent memory was Yngwie Malmsteen ),and she converted to PT when we saw them last month and is now a fan.
Since we can't stand each other's music(I like good music, she likes crap ),but love to get out together and have a good time,we go to all live performances together. We went and saw Motley Crue the last time they come to Baltimore on their Carnival of Sins tour.
I didn't think it could get worse than that till she told me she bought Nickelback tickets.
Marriage is give and take guys, once you accept that fact everything will be fine.

"Tora Tora Tora" was very good but I'd recommend the follow-up movie "Midway". I thought that was even better.

This is a no contest...... Now if the battle was PEARL HARBOR vs Nickelback...then we would have quite some death match here!

I know. Tora Tora Tora is the only DVD in my collection that is not a music or tv series disc. I've seen it so many times on TV. In case you've seen the other Pearl Harbour movie (Pearl Harbour) you agree that this one is balanced in its presentation of the battle. P.S. Nickelback are pointless rock & angry sounding (not) completely unoriginal sounding CANADIANS ! I've come to the point where I can appreciate that they're one of the only groups around these days that still play something like straightforward rock. Mind you , that says more about the current music scene than their talent. I can also now tolerate my wife or daughter playing them again in our car. I had passed a total ban on their music anywhere within my hearing range. I have since mellowed out. That & it was hard to avoid them everywhere.
