I know this will get moved but I don't know if you can create a poll in the non-prog section! Anyway, five exceptional guitarists who dominated the world in the late 60's / Early 70's. But who was the master?

I believe Hendrix was the most influtential. I like him the most out of these anyway.

My favourite - Page. Most groundbreaking and possibly most creative - Hendrix . Most proficient in technique: Beck. Flawless execution: Clapton.
My vote: Page.

Page, he is up there with Fripp as my favorite
I never really understood all the hype for Hendrix, I know he is good, groundbreaking and influential but, personally, I think the name, at least now a days, has more meaning than his playing... just a thought, doesnt mean all Hendrix fans fall under this
Beck is probably the best, objectivly speaking, while Clapton always plays the same song... luckily for him, its a good one!

I saw Clapton live and I also love the blues so my vote goes to Eric Clapton.

They're all obviously stunning, but the greatest inventor of style is Hendrix and he gets my vote.

His playing has more personality - along with Jimi - than the others in the list and than most prog guitarists. However, do you think he would have done a better job for those respective prog bands, better than those less spectacular prog guitarists? I tend to doubt it, but I don't think we'll ever know. That's why he's got his own category in my tastes.

The most entertaining will always be Page for me. He made me say "damn, that's cool" or "oooh myyy goddd" the most. 
Although Jimi was great at experimenting.
Jeff Beck & Eric Clapton never did much for me as guitarists, they seem kind of over-rated and wrapped-up in their own "greatness"
Pete Townshend is an excellent songcrafter/writer, but as a guitarist he's not exactly "mind-blowing", to say the least

Eric Clapton is renowned for humbling his own stature and rating other guitarists above him (inc. Hendrix) - he's even said that Mark Knopfler plays Lala better than him. Jeff Beck rarely says anything.
