Well they are pretty consistant with releasing an album every 1-2 years... I hope they do release one this year as well, but it will probably come out late 2007 if not 2008

Those are some expensive coasters! The Flower Kings are a very good band but they need to try some new things. It get's a little tiresome when so much of their material sounds so similar.

I did read a post that gave a statement from Roine on the TFK website. He outlined things he was doing, and what was coming up. According to this, TFK will be working on a new album in September, I think. So it could be a release in time for Xmas, or early next year.
I can wait, as I have all their other magnificent albums to listen to till then.

According to the TFK Myspace (which was updated today), they will begin rehersals tomorrow and will go into the studio on March 26th. Roine gives a very interesting description of the new album, including the claim that there won't be any "filler". At any rate, I think he plans on the album being released around September, and I can't wait!

oh great news from mr. stolt but speaking of which this might be off topic I've read in a few posts that there might be a new Kaipa album coming out. Has Stolt verified this already?

I believe the new Kaipa album is supposed to come out in August, but Roine is no longer a member of the band.

RichardH, do you -have- to troll every TFK thread you see? You're getting predictable.
Anyway, straight from Roine:
But even more important we are ready to start work on next TFK studio release. Well
it started some time ago with doing demos of course and now we will
start reharsing tomorrow and then go into a very cool studio called
Varispeed on March 26th . The studio have a definite 70 retro vibe ,
it has got 3(!!) NEVE desks and lots of other cool stuff ,vintage mikes
Hammond ,Rhodes, old blackface Fenderamps and all that sh*t .
The material is of course impossible to be described and should maybe not be , besides
too many bands rave about their own music and new recordings way too
early, I am of the opinion that the music speak for itself and shall
not be hyped, however .........my very firmly rooted gut feel is
that the material we have is by far the best symphonic prog that we've
ever had and as if this was not enough Jonas is even more enthusiastic and both Hasse and Tomas are very fired up too. So maybe there is something in there after all and when I say "symphonic prog" I mean it in the true sense. I.o.w
. it means there is virually no "filler" ,I mean what some people have
accused us for, filling out the CD's with ambient, jazz or electronic
experiments. Whatever you feel about that opinion this CD will not see as much as 5 seconds of it .
Nor
have we been aiming at more modern mainstream prog or metal like
Porcupine Tree,POS,Mars Volta,Tool, Spocks or Neal Morse for that
matter and there will be no real surprises,no experiment for
experiments sake .. So this new CD will only contain the destilled VERY BEST of what most of you concider to be the heart of prog. The
sound is very much Flowerkings and that means in the spirit of when
prog was at it's peak, melody reign and bombast was a good thing.
So if I were to describe it for someone who had been sleeping or in a coma since 1978 (
no I'm not talking about all the A&R folks on the major labels) I'd
probably say it's a mix of Shine On Brightly,Selling England By The
Pound,Brain Salad Surgery,Tales From Topographic Oceans,In A Glass
House,Abbey Road,Utopia,Hamburg Concerto, Refugee,The Snow Goose,In
The Court Of The Crimson King,Eldorado,One Size fits all,Jusus Christ
Superstar and Dark Side Of The Moon ......... Yes it is turning out
to be 100% certified symph/prog !!! well now that can change of course
and we end up with something like the latest Dimmu Borgir ......""*?%€#
Anyway
rest assured that we will pour our hearts into doing the best prog
album in 35 years, now if you ask Jonas he's convinced it is going to
happen .....and that's a bit odd coming from Jonas .The working title
of the album is .......xxxxxxx ,no I won't spoil that fun,or give it
away to some copycat (anyway it is a very cool and fitting title that
says all about our music ) ....
Anyway we're looking at a few
"epics", a main piece of 24 minutes and two "shorter" tracks of around
12 min, plus Tomas have a fast and furious instrumental and I have the
odd 5 min track with the quirky 11/8 timesignature;Hasse and I share
the vocals about 50/50 and the drumming will be excellent and very
proggy (you don't know what I know ),we have
Hammond,Rhodes,Wurlizer,Grand Piano,Rickenbacker12string, 2 real
minimoogs and plenty of odd percussion ...... ......sounds predictable
?.....shure it is but who gives a sh*t as long as the music is a trip .
Expect nothing but a trip back to when prog ruled and was even hip,we're goona take you there guys .......promise !!!

That is very exciting news. I found it kinda funny how he says he doesn't like when bands rave about their own music, then goes on to say it's going to be the best prog album in 35 years Anyways, I'm really looking forward to this new album now more than any other album (Save Snakes & Arrows) coming out this year

I'm impressed that Roine is doing the new Brain Salad Surgery,In The Court,Dark Side Of The Moon and Refugee all rolled into one..even throwing in some Gentle Giant and Beatles for good measure.

^^ that was an interesting read ... well, if only half of it is true we might get a much better album than Paradox Hotel.
