close call between John Mayall and Johnny Winter I choose the latter. but mainly because I like Edgar Winter better than The Taj Mahall

John Lee Hooker from that list, and I'm also fond of JJ Cale when I'm in a mellow mood. They're all good choices.

BB King should have been on the poll, but how could you even consider including that self indulgent, MOR, soulless vacuum that is Clapton on a list of blues players? What next, choose between Otis Redding and Phil Collins?

'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

Robert Wyatt, Gloria Gloom

Unfairly harsh words man. Robert Johnson is amazing, I suppose of the true blues greats I would go for him, but otherwise it's still Robert Plant. I chose John Lee.

Ever listen to The House of Blues on Che? They Play a bunch of pre Zep Era stuff, and I often hear Plant. I used to listen to that religiously. I love the blues!

Howlin' Wolf all the way.  Not only is he good, he is one of Beefheart's inspirations (You can hear similarities in the voice)
"O' lady look up in time o' lady look out of love
'n you should have us all
O' you should have us fall"
"Bill's Corpse" By Captain Beefheart
