I always found Humble Pie and Hot Tuna to be quite interesting band names, but I'll go with Henry Cow.

Uhm... ACQUA FRAGILE
Uhm... FRAGILE WATER (in English). All right that Bernardo Lanzetti is more American than Italian... But explained me what it means this name? A liquid one is able to break itself? |

I could mention "mincing fury and guttural clamour of queer decay" but that's grindcore and hardly progressive :D I like Einstuerzende Neubauten a lot, and their name translates to something like "demolishing new buildings".
if you want classic prog then it clearly has to be MURPLE! |

Incredible Expanding Mindf**k
Hectic Watermelon Both of which are very good bands. Also, Porcupine Tree was the weirdest name when I first heard it. Edited by asimplemistake - August 30 2007 at 17:29 |

Sieges Even - I haven't figured out what it's supposed to mean (never bothered, it just popped into my mind just now).
And Camel and Caravan are pretty weird when you think about it (and related as well???) |

The topic creator said PROG bands.
Almost all grindcore bands have bad names.
