Okay the first vote is going to go for "Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch". Once again, I feel that it is too commercial and not representative of Zappa's catalogue.

I voted 'Trance-Fusion'. Heard it only a few times but it didn't blow me away like 'Shut Up And...' did. It's good though not essential.
'Ship Arriving Too Late...' too commercial? If they would ever play that stuff on the radio here...

Cruising With Ruben & The Jets. I have to admit that I only heard the CD version though.

That album is not commercial at all ... it contains some of the most weird (and dense) music that Zappa ever recorded. Imagine people dancing to "I Come From Nowhere" ... or American teenagers of the 80s listening to "Teen-Age Prostitute". Sorry, it doesn't work Still voting for Cruising, btw.

I can back you up and say that the CD was actually physically painful to listen to, but you must get the album on vinyl to be able to listen to it properly.
And Mike, you've been Crusin' for a while now, huh?

I currently don't have an lp-player. My old one broke months ago, and it's about time that I get a new one...

^^^ BTW: How is the Cruising LP different from the CD? I mean, maybe it has a more authentic sound, but the music is the same, isn't it?

No, it isn't. The cd version has new bass parts I believe, and maybe some other changes that I don't remember right now. That's why I'm still curious to hear the lp version. So far all reviews that I've read by people who had heard both the lp and cd version, preferred the lp version by far.

Well its the same songs, but the sound quality on the CD is just so overpowered with bass and drums that it becomes unlistenable. Only the bass on drums were re-recorded for the remaster making the singing and guitar parts sound very washed out, and on top of all that Chad Wackerman (Drums) used an electric kit while Arthur Barrow (Bass) played way lower than the original songs called for.
