A friend of my dads recommended the Audacity freeware audio editting/recording programme to me andI was wondering if anyone here has used it and is it any good?
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

It's fine. Better than anything else you'll get for free, anyhow. And really not bad compared to professional alternatives.

I use it, it's okay, I guess. Nothing magical can be got out of it, but it is nevertheless good.

Can it record live sound from your PC??

How can it be done, I've tried but no luck.

Can live streaming and Sound from the PC be recorded at all??

using Audacity.

There should be a "Volume" icon in the right-lower corner of your PC. Click it. Go to Properties, then Recording. Check everything.
 
Once in audacity, select "Stereo Mixer" from the upper-right corner. Now it should record all the sound on your computer, including the sounds or audio you play, everything you hear while browsing basically.
