Just seen it. For those who do not know Portuguese and might be interested: Shaaman, Brazilian progressive metal band, has just announced the ending of its activities. Possible reasons are disagreements among band members.

--X--

Well, it's a pity. They were one of our major prog metal acts, and a pretty good one, founded as they were by former members of Angra such as André Mattos (vocals) and Ricardo Confessori (drums). They will be missed for sure.

I never found Shamaan good because guitar and bass were always uninventive. When I went to Nektar concert here in Brazil, Shamaan was one of the opening bands, their songs were inventive only in the first minute, then the bass and the guitar spoiled the song, while guitar playing in Angra was and is superb.

Maybe they can form better bands now.

Me too like Angra the most. But anyway, it's a bit of a shock. They have many fans and will be terribly missed.

I could not find any news in English. If I do come across something, I will post the links here.

I heard one album by Shaaman, and found nothing interesting in it - typical power metal, so I won't be missing this band at all.

I remember seeing Shaaman last year, Andre Matos was impressive on stage but the rest were pretty average.
Agree with Jody, Angra are the better band.

No, I have not heard Aurora Consurgens yet. But I'm going to arrange for this now. I've read that it is a bit more heavy than Temple of Shadows, but this won't trouble me - if they managed to keep their musicianship, I'm likely to enjoy it still better.

Yeah I saw that on blabbermouth. I was never a huge Shamaan fan, but Andre has a great voice. However, the work he did with Angra is far superior IMHO.

To tell the truth i'm not sad that Shaaman ended ativities. I love their first album RITUAL and the last one REASON was too below and i doubt they would return to their earlier sounding. So let's see what Andre Matos will come up to now ^^

Ps: I don't even need to say that Angra is lightyears ahead Shaaman, do i?
