wondering if anyone could suggest similar bands/cds to Spiral Architect and Continuo Renacer (behold...the arctopus is another one of my favorites)
also, on a conpletly unrelated subject, could you suggest anything for a friend of mine who loves such bands as vital tech tones
thancks for your time and help

Gordian Knot
Canvas Solaris
Orthrelm
Twisted Into Form (I'm not sure their album has been released yet, but it features ex-Spiral Architect members and it's said to be approximately in the same vein)
Psyopus
Capharnaum
Linear Sphere
Divided Sky

I'm too lazy to give more details now... but I think you can try those without hesitating much.

As for your friend, he should definitely try the GHS albums (Gambale/Hamm/Smith) - there are three of them. And also other projects involving (the fabulous) Steve Smith (Vital Information would be a reasonable choice too, and there's a lot to explore in their discography).

Then there are Scott Henderson's solo albums, but I'm not too familiar with those.
Stretching a little, he could also try albums by Greg Howe, Victor Wooten, Niacin (and basically everything with Dennis Chambers in the line-up), or perhaps even Planet X or the CAB albums (both with Tony MacAlpine on guitar).

Listening to Watchtower goes very well with trying out the first Sieges Even albums (at least the first, that is). And if you want to go for Meshuggah (although it's not exactly Spiral Architect style), then you can check out the band Textures and maybe even The Dillinger Escape Plan.
You're probably already familiar with Psychotic Waltz's output, since they had clearly the strongest influence on SA's music.
Oh, and I was forgetting Spastic Ink and Ron Jarzombek's solo albums (some of the most rhythmically complex stuff you're likely to hear). Watchower is relatively simple compared to those.
