So your driving in your car and your destination is only 45 minutes away. What single album would you put on during your drive?

Not very prog but "L.A. Woman" by the Doors - includes the greatest driving song ever -"Riders on the storm".
If it is to be prog then "Ashes are burning" by Renaissance - the title track also being wonderful in the car

I rarely drive, but I think "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen would be a good choice.

I would put on "Living in the Past" by Tull, skip over to "Driving Song" and repeat it over and over for 45 minutes.

I second LA Woman...the title track is also an awesome driving song. Riders on the Storm, especially when rainy.
I like In the Land of Grey and Pink for prog.

Call me weird, but for me it dependson a variety of factors, such as weather and time of day
Sunny: Something happy and upbeat, usually The Flower Kings, Chick Corea, The Tangent, or some lighter fare such as Keane or the Red Hot Chili Peppers Raining: Something dark, usually Dream Theater, Opeth, or Pain of Salvation - most prog-metal, basically Night-time: Something soothing and melancholy, but which won't put me to sleep! Sigur Ros, Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, maybe some Tool. Of course, there rules do not apply within the first few days of my receiving of a new CD, which will thus get first priority in the car CD player

It's called my daily commute. Today it was Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick. I carry 16 CD's in my car and replace them every week. Even I don't know what I'll listen to next, but you can bet it'll be whatever strikes my fancy at the time...

The Sky Moves Sideways (Porcupine Tree) is a good driving listen.

I dont drive, but I use the bus a lot, and I have discovered that the Ayreon albums are great if you are in a car or bus, so there goes my choice. Also, sometimes when I go with a friend of mine who likes prog in his car we usually listen to the Yes album.

Driving home when I may need to keep awake. Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind, Number of the Beast, Early Saxon, AC/DC recordings with Bon Scott, 70's Status Quo, Helloween, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray.
Drving there when I need to mellow out with the traffic jams, Yes, Tull, early to mid 70's Genesis, Camel etc

I think the car is the best way to get to know a new album. I drive for work, so I liten to a lot of music in my car. I've had to give up listening to Rush in the car, because I speed more. Most of the time what I listen to in my car resembles what I listen to everywhere else

How ironic.
For me, Boston's debut is the best there is when it comes to driving albums.

Something brutal : Suicidal tendencies' "lights, camera, evolution" or Metallica's "master of puppets"
or a compilation of smashing hits of the eighties : Pat Benatar's "Invincible", Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a place on earth", New Order's "true faith", Outfield's "your love", Jane Wiedlin's "rush hour", nena's "99 luftballons", Bon Jovi's "living on a prayer", OMD's "enola gay", depeche mode's "enjoy the silence", duran duran's "save a prayer".
