Topic: The New Song Game Posted: December 16 2004 at 12:25 |
I think the (old) Song Game has burnt itself out, therefore I would like to suggest two alternatives:
a) (stealing the idea directly from a popular British radio comedy programme I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue), the lyrics of one tune to the music of another. One of the best examples is the lyrics of the traditional tune, Ilkley Moor Ba' Tat to the musical arrangement for Joe Cocker's version of With A Little Help From My Friends. I'll dig back through my tapes of Sorry I Haven't A Clue and come up with some other examples.
b) song titles that have absolutely nothing to do with the previously listed title - with the opportunity for titles to be challenged by others who have to show the connectivity (but as amusingly as possible) - and because Peter R seems underworked I nominate that he keeps the scores!

Well I''ll give it a try.
Music. Queen : Let me entertain You
Lyric. Robbie Williams : Let me entertain you
Somehow it seems to fit. (agreed, it's not prog, but I'll try to find something later.)
BTW are we're going to play A, B, or both games simultaniously.

'Dedicated to you, but you weren't listening', by SOFT MACHINE, from their "Volume 2".
'Dedicated to Hugh, but you weren't listening', by MATCHING MOLE, from their eponymous debut album. Wyatt had just parted ways with SOFT MACHINE in not so good terms; by the time, Hugh Hopper (bass player in the SOFTS) was still a friend of Wyatt's, but things were still a bit tense between them.
