Topic: 40th ANNIVERSARY OF PROG Posted: July 02 2006 at 07:46 |
Next year, 2007, will arguably be the 40th anniversary of the birth of Prog. The point of this thread is not to debate that issue, but to have a bit of fun with the question ....
How would you celebrate the 40th anniversary of the birth of Prog?
Bonus points for silliness .....

You'd have to select a particular date during 2007 to inform the media and a climax date for the celebrations to build up to, i suggest 1st June, the release date of the "Sgt.Pepper" album (some will argue which was the first prog album, more likely "Revolver" released 5th August 1966 !).
Personally i would have a nice new prog-hat made and think of ideas to promote prog.

I will establish a new royal dynasty of crimson kings in Sweden.
Either that, or buying some new cd:s.

There should be a World Prog Day and we should all celebrate by dressing up as either Peter Gabriel in a red dress and fox mask or Ian Anderson in tights and a codpiece.
Now we just need to agree on the day.

I will celebrate the occasion by putting together a band and writing
some prog songs. I'm already preparing it. The problem is, the guys
I've got hold of are not progheads...

Well, if people managed to agree on a World Cat Day (February 17, if I'm not wrong), I see no reason why the same shouldn't happen for prog. Let's just pick the release date of, say, ITCOTCK and make it our official day...

I say Piper's release, August 5 1967! Just kidding since it's not a debate anyway.
When the Prog Day comes, I'll recomend a few more friends to it, drink some purple Kool-Aid since prog is purple (that is not debatable) , and listen to the favorites all day!

I second the release of ITCOTCK!!!
And I think the best way to celebrate is to go and burn down some punks, pops and just pretty mucho who ever doesnt like prog!!

how about dressing up like John L. of Ash Ra Tempel (naked with a
painted penis) or, in case you are female, like Limpe Fuchs of Anima
(naked and painted body)?
