Topic: Porcupine Tree's Deadwing - Your favorite Song? Posted: May 19 2006 at 15:04 |
For me, it's the title track. The way the band comes in out of left
field, in a completely different place than you thought they would... love it!
And Belew's solo gives me chills almost every time I hear it.
Arriving Somewhere is a close second.

I vote Halo - the vibe is awesome, a real stomper of a track, but the whole album is so good that it's hard to pick a 'best'. It's already one of my all time favourites, and I've been listening to Prog for 35 years!!! (I'm in real danger of over-playing it!)

I think that Arriving is a bit too much drawn out ... I'd prefer the title track. But I voted for Lazarus, which is the most beautiful song. And the second half of Mellotron Scratch.

I vote for the big dumb rock song, Shallow. That song would be a good way to get your metal head friends into the Tree. And once they were into PT, then it's just a short step into becoming a prog junkie like the rest of us, right? Right?

Arriving Somewhere is a great song but it's the only song on that album that's any good IMO!

I went with "Lazarus" (you can't accuse every band of attempting a pop song if it happens to be mellow. I think it works nicely on Deadwing), but it depends upon my mood. "Arriving Somewhere..." is damn fine; however, "Shallow" and "Halo" gets some pent up aggression out.
