There are loads of other candidates, I'm sure, but these IMHO are the most deserving of the 'unsung' prog hero! What do you think?Clap

(I voted Levin by the way, although it was close with him, Ray Shulman & Percy Jones)

LEVIN

His body of work is huge, the premier bass player in prog, imo.

Honorable mention goes to Sean Malone,a huge talent who is always overlooked.

Voted for Squire. I like his melodic playing.

Geddy Lee (not on the list) also ain't shabby.

No Geddy Lee?! AngryWink

Well, he's my favorite.  But on the list I love Levin and Squire.
I also agree Sean Malone needs to start showing up on these lists.

OK, as you spoke of "unsung heroes", I went for Richard Sinclair. I don't know whether he's the best in a technical sense (as I'm not a musician, only a keen listener), but he's certainly no slouch. It takes some chops to play Hatfield and the North's stuff, and he's also a great songwriter - not to mention his absolutely divine voice.

There is life beyond Squire and Levin (who are great)... Anyway, in your list I'd also choose Hugh Hopper (another great who gets hardly ever mentioned), Ray Shulman and John Wetton (as long as he keeps his mouth shut...Tongue) - and, though he's not there, obviously the mighty Geddy Lee.

from that list Levin is the better bassist but I get the feeling Squire is going to end up with all the votes (as per normalDisapprove).
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

I'm sorry but not only has this been done before it misses out some of the key bassists in Prog.

Do your homework before posting these polls please. Also check using the search facility to see if it can be done differently or more interestingly.
