I decided to put this in non-music prog lounge as it only has to do with the artwork/packaging

so as I have realised thus far the three alternative editions:

1. simple edition that costs about 11$-£

2. digipack edition with some weird eyes and lenses(?) on the cover - costs 2-3 $-£ more

3. limited edition signed by Alex Gray with silver(!) ink that costs about 30$

choose your toy... I'm going for the second one

I don't know what you are talking about... There is no simple edition.  All the albums in print are the digipack edition with the lenses.  Those lenses are for aid in viewing the stereoscopic images within the booklet.  Maybe someday they will do a print witout the lenses to save money or something (kind of like how they stopped making AEnima with the moving lenticular cover, I believe).

Maybe you are looking at a picture which doesn't show the lenses, because thats what sites like Amazon are using for the picture, but trust me it will have the lenses.

Yeah, there is the limited edition signed by Alex Gray on www.cosm.org, although his signature doesn't mean the album is ever going to go for tons of money on ebay in a couple of years or anything.

I also saw no simple edition ... wouldn't make sense to offer that one. The digipack is just so amazing!

^ maybe I'm mistaken about the simple but I did see two different prices...

take a look at these two items here, the price is different and the first does not mention anything about digipack

Well thats ebay, of course the different sellers are going to have different prices and product descriptions.  One seller didn't feel it necessary to say that it was a digipack and just used the early promo picture from amazon.com.  Rest assured they are all digipacks as of now.

If you are good at crossing your eyes then you will be able to see the stereoscopic images in all their 3d glory, if not, wait till you have the actual album and you can use the glasses.
