Topic: Most Technical Prog Metal Posted: April 24 2006 at 20:02 |
Not talking about emotion and song writing skills, just technical wizardry, which band is the best?
I heard Spiral Architect last week and think they could beat the other two (technically)

Tool, based on Lateralus and the 2 songs from 10,000 album that I received from a friend.
Just technical monstruosity.
Dream theater comes very close.

I would go with Spiral Architect. They're clearly more technical than the other two, and far more complex IMO.

Out of those definitely Spiral Architect. But like Mike said,Power of Omens is pretty technical, and I think their drummer is incredible. I recommend their album Rooms of Anguish.

Add to the list Spastic Ink, Watchtower, Atheist, Electrocution 250, and Behold...The Arctopus...and then we'll talk.

Watchtower.
I’ve yet to hear Spiral Architect’s album, although it’s quite an experience from what I’ve gathered.

um, no.
Planet X is probably mine- not only are they technical- but it's VERY CLEAN
Spiral sounds a bit sloppy at times....

Adagio are pretty technical .. so are Time Requim but I think Andromeda or spiral architect take the cake ![Wink](smileys/smiley2.gif) Keep in mind technicle doesn`t mean its good , sometimes technicle can leave one big headache , I mean I would prefer a balance of melodic flow and technicality if I had my choice I guess thats why vintage Kansas is my idea of perfection.

I like all the bands mentioned here, maybe except Spiral Architect, but Power of Omens is, IMO, one of the few prog metal bands who actually create a texture, and their texture is very impressive indeed!
