They had prog tendecies in some songs (Tunnel of love, Telegraph road, private investigations), but not enough to even consider them for prog related, IMO. Fantastic band though.

And for some reason, I can't vote.

I believe Dire Straits have already been rejected by the collaborators. I certainly think this was the right decision.

Well, well, well...

Dire Straits have never been "prog"( a lengthy track like "Telegraph Road" doesn't make it "Prog Rock" still ! ) but I'll always love them... especially#
- It never rains ( From "Love over Gold" )
- News ( from "Communique" )
- Planet of New Orleans ( from "On Every Street" )
- Your latest trick ( from "Brothers in Arms" )
- Tunnel of Love ( from "Making Movies" ).
Strangely their "Alchemy" - Live Album, which is very popular amongst fans/listeners, is a bore to me ( I prefer "On the Night" ).
...I'm a musician/singer/songwriter, visit me on www.reverbnation.com/rupertlenz and there you can choose from 125 recordings you can listen to ( for free ) if you're not limited to prog-rock !
