I wait for the release, because I think that listening to leaked copies is not only illegal, but also spoils the fun. Yes, in the past I did listen to advance copies, but it always took away much of the fun with the new album.

I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I might incriminate myself.

I wait for the release.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Seeing as how I'm in Canada, I can't incriminate myself, so I answer truthfully. I pirate!

Voted for waiting.

I actively look for a leaked copy (p2p)

First of all, I know it's illegal, and that you could harm the band by downloading the albums prior to the release date. For me downloading is just listening to the album, so I can decide whether it's any good. I don't by albums because some reviewer likes it, I buy an album when I like it. The other scenario would be to go to a recordstore, listen the album there, and put in back in the shelves when I don't like it. Now I just delete them.

When I do like the album, I will wait for the release date, and buy the album. So in that way (I feel) I'm not harming the artists.

Focus on the music... Focus!

Those Amercians, always taking the fifth...  Well, since I will be joining you soon, I will practice this as well, and I will not answer this either - Now all I need is to get a lawyer... (No offense, Jody, just kidding).

What?

Are there any records that reach the market?  I believed that prog artists lived on the profits from p2p pages...

Just kidding, of course, I wait...

Sometimes it really annoys me that people are trying to "get ahead" ... they download the albums and post reviews much earlier than people who try to play by the rules. I'm sure that many of them don't do this because they want to be ahead of others and make it appear like they're more knowledgeable ... but that's exactly how it comes across.

Depends on the band. If it's from one of my favorite bands, I'll buy it immeditately. If not, I'll try to download samples from it from the internet, then listen to them and see if I like them. If I like'em, I'll buy the album!

I voted for the first one... I wait for the release to hear the music, but i usually wait a week or two to buy it if I'm skeptical. I'll read some reviews and see what people think (without looking at spoilers) before I decide to do it.

I'm currently doing this with Operation: Mindcrime II

To buy or not to buy???

Strangers passing in the street by chance two separate glances meet and I am you and what I see is me. And do I take you by the hand and lead you through the land and help me understand the best I can

If you live in a country where Napster is available, you might try that - the album is available through the Napster flatrate! Oh, and the new Katatonia album too!
