This is one of Morricone's  lesser known sound tracks and it's quite Prog. It is the soundtrack for Sergio Sollima's great and underrated film 'Faccia a Faccia'(1967).

Before Morricone became famous for his Leone soundtracks he was composing modern contemporary music and did the soundtracks mainly to earn a living, a fact that doesn't prevented him from introducing highly interesting musical structures and textures into his  soundtracks. For this movie he used mainly an electronic organ (Thomas 500) with an agressive sawtooth like sound. The soundtrack is build around  two opposite themes a slow melancolic organ theme (linked to the uninversity professor played by GM Volonte) and a highly syncopated theme over an uptempo percussion pattern ( not unlike  'Goblin', who have listened carefully to Morricone.) : one of Morricone's most interesting soundtracks.
