 Topic: Wakemen on TV (UK) last night.

Did anyone in the UK see Rick Wakemen on 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' last night??
The show was hosted by prog fan Jeremy Clarkson. The whole ting was mildly amusing as ever, but there were, of course, a few digs at prog. Clarkson announced `that the NME had voted Yes the 'sh*ttest' band ever...
In the introductions round Bill Bailey decided to do a 'prog version' of the intro he and Wakemen were mouthing to their fellow team mate. The intro included Wakemen doing amusing mimed keyboard flurries, and Bailey miming a clanging bell...
Wakemen does seem popular as a TV celeb if nothing else. He was a major contributor to the 'Grumpy Old Men' series.

Wakeman came across well as usual. he has taken to the TV celebrity role with ease. He took the micky out of Yes and prog himself, but all in fun.
Can't say Clarkson amuses me at all, he is so in love with himself it hurts. He does though have reasonable musical tastes. He wrote the sleeve notes for at least one Caravan compilation (which in itself is rather ironic, given that he is a motoring reporter with a hatred of... Caravans).

I agree, Wakemen gets on well with TV. He was good on celebrity 'Weakest Link' too, as was Fish.

I heard Rick Wakeman interviewed, he is really quite funny. I think he has done some hosting on T.V. too.

It's the collective noun for a group of prog rock keyboard players who sport long blonde hair and wear long gold capes...er no hang on that'd be just one then.....

any older and still be alive?

dont fret old pal. he'll be back as soon as this series. if not then the start of next. he just wants a break to concentrate on other projects, which you cant blame him for. hes been doing the show for ages. the only one whos really held his own has been jonathan ross as a permanent replacement. ricky wilson and simon amnstell (sp) were good but lacked something!

I always found Mark Lamarr a bit arrogant. Funny as hell, but very egocentric.
Rick Wakeman was awesome, but that Aussie bloke stole the show for me.
