My little town (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) only has about 150,000 people or so, not much to look at.  But among the dozen or so radio stations, there are two that play fair amounts of progressive music.  Both are of course college stations, and the listener is at the mercy of the DJ's mood, so you're just as likely to hear rap as you are Goodspeed You!... or or say, dredg, and neither of them hardly ever plays any classic prog, but it's certainly an alternative to Top-40.

Just wondering how many people have access to free local radio with a progressive sound?

No, I live in a backwards third world country

Dont get me wrong.. I dont hate my country... no use in complaining

Its sad but its true..

but this is a music poll...

so i guess my answer would just be a simple:

No prog music station, Nada, Zip, Zap, Zilch, Nil, Void, Caput

I never listen to the radio, but I don't think they play prog anyway.

I only listen to the radio in extreme cases, those cases being when I need music and there's nothing else around but a measly little radio. And I just listen to classic rock, I can't stand the contemporary stuff.

The "other" choice

Once they played "In The Court of the Crimson King"
They do play the occasional Floyd, Tull, or Rush song

Prog in Finnish radio

I think no one even knows what is prog in Finland (well no one from the radio stations).

This is an electrified fairytale

Yes, but only because I only listen to college radio, and a few people play prog now and again (as long as they don't admit it's prog).

Wow!  The only place I ever heard KC on the radio was in California, and that was over 20 years ago!

I was kind of thinking more modern prog though.  Kansas, JT, Rush, and bands like that still get a fair amount of airplay on 'rock' radio.  I can remember in the 70's when a lot of FM stations had all-album formats, and shows like King Biscuit.  Some of the FM stations around here still do that at night, but it's mostly metal.

When ever I'm at work I change it to a classic rock station that plays mostly 70's and 80's music so there is prog on there, every now and then they will have an hour of Rush or Yes on.

I only know of one station in my area that plays prog from time to time... I've heard a lot of Rush on it, Ive only heard 1 Yes song though... As for Genesis they played 'I know what I like' one time on 'Damn, I Wish I Wrote That' and I caught the end of 'Dancing with the moonlight knight' one night long ago... The station is Q107 if you were wondering, you should know what Im talking about if you live near Toronto...

I've heard Porcupine Tree, Sigur Rós and probably some others which I can't remember right now played on Radio Helsinki. On YLE Radio 1 there's a program called Avaruusromua, in which they often play music by Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze.

I had to think what will be the right answer cause I usually do'nt listen to the radio (cause they never put prog) but my wife turns it on quite often so I hear some every now and then. 30 years ago there was a radio show called "A bit different" that put on prog regulary and it was 2 hors every week (I remember hearing there KC's Beat and an hour with Talking heads) but that ended years ago so I had to choose the answer :No I live in a backwards-third world country.
