Topic: Le Orme: Biancaneve Posted: March 29 2006 at 08:51 |
I think that this album should be deleted: it’s not a new studio album but just a cheap re-release of the album “Venerdì” (1981)… The track listing is the same, so I think that reviewing “Biancaneve” is absolutely useless (the review I sent is exactly the same I made for “Venerdì”)… Probably it would be better just write in the release information space of “Venerdì” : album re-released on CD in 1994 as “Biancaneve” by Replay Music (RMCD 4034), with a different album cover. By the way, I own also an original MC of this album with the same album cover of “Venerdì” but with a different title (“Marinai” CGD – DDD 35 LSM 1306, re-released in 1982) that contains two more tracks: “Sahara” and “Rosso di sera”, originally released as a single in 1982…
Bye!

Good work, andrea!
P.S. never listened to that album, though.

But you have to be aware that in some countries "Biancaneve" could have been released and "Venerdi" not.
Other possibility is someone buy or receive as a gift "Biancaneve" and make a review on it, never knowing that it's equal to "Venerdi".
"Biancaneve" is also a name more appealing than "Venerdi", specially for export purposes. Don't you think?
BTW: in Portuguese, you need only to change the "i" of Bianca by an "r".

Ahhh, I didn't know that!
I am curious about later Le Orme albums by the way. I stopped with Contrappunti, which is fantastic by the way. I wonder if I would like later albums like Smogmagica.

If you look in Le Orme's official website they say that Biancaneve is only the re-release of Venerdì... By the way, I own it and the booklet is very poor... Since the songs are the same I think it would be better concentrate reviews and ratings on the original version...

By the way, this is the track listing with the length of the tracks…
1. Biancaneve (3:32) 2. Arianna (4:04) 3. Cercherò (3:52) 4. La notte (4:15) 5. Venerdì (4:12) 6. Marinai (4:08) 7. Storie che non tornano (3:32) 8. Rubacuori (4:01) 9. La sorte (3:31) 10.Com'era bello (4:42)
Total time: 39:51
I've asked to Atkingani to delete my old review, so I will try to write a new one more accurate...

If you guys are sure about this, I can delete it. If someone feels this is a big mistake, you can always add it again ...

Be careful, Smogmagica (1975) is different a lot from Contrappunti, it's a "schyzoid" album. With excellent tracks though:
- Los Angeles
- Amico di Ieri
- Laserium Floyd
More traditional Le Orme's album is "Verità Nascoste" (1976).
If you want to listen to something completely different, then go with the completely acoustic "Florian" (1979).

Andrea Cortese, don't forget "Storia O Leggenda" (1977), a great album!!!
The cover art is very similar to "Uomo Di Pezza", and i love all the songs; in my opinion this is their last progressive work until 1996 when LE ORME released "Il Fiume". "Florian" is a very good album, but not progressive at all.

I own Storia o Leggenda, don't like it very much, due to that unespected reggae intro!!!
BTW, the closer "Al Mercato delle Pulci" is the gem of the album!
Verità Nascoste or Storia o Leggenda? I choose the first one! More convincing.

Okay, thanks, Andrea and Andrew! I really love Le Orme's Uome Di Pezza, Felona E Sorona and Contrappunti but didn't dare to explore any further. Thanks for the recommendations, even when you don't seem to agree .
Live Orme, is that good? And Collage?

Collage is the cornerstone upon which Le Orme builded up their most famous works!
