Topic: ELP Single Posted: March 27 2006 at 13:26 |
This has been Emailed to the site, can anyone verify please?
re: ELP Single
Message: You must know that lots of british bands wouldn't release singles at the UK, following Led Zeppelin's moves. However, I've found that Emerson Lake & Palmer released "Jerusalem" (backed by "When the apple blossoms bloom in the windmills of your mind, I'll be your valentine") at the US as a single. I'd aprecciate if you could add it to ELP discography
from "Bruce"

I found this info re. the single:
"Their 1st UK single is released in December titled “Jerusalem” but it fails to chart and is not released in the US. The single is from their next album “Brain Salad Surgery” that peaks at #11 in the US on 12/29/73 and peaks at #2 in the UK on the same date."
And Led Zeppelin did release singles. In fact I think all their lps except "Phyisical Graffitti" had singles released from them (and I could be wrong about PG).

I just read last night (in the booklet notes to that LZ re-mastered compilation), that there was no single for their debut, and that singles were released for the American, not UK, market.![Smile](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif)

Thanks for the clarification, but didn't "Whole Lotta Love" get released in the UK? Wasn't that the only one that did?

The "Whole lotta love" release in the UK was by Alexis Korner's band CCS, who took advantage of Zep's policy of not releasing singles to enjoy an unchallenged run up the singles chart. Good version though, it was the "Top of the Pops" theme for many years.
