http://billysherwood.com/wall/

Billy Sherwood is producing a tribute to "The Wall".

Musician's on the project include: Chris Squire, Alan White, Rick Wakeman, Tony Kaye, Ian Anderson, Tony Levin, Steve Morse...

This could be very cool.

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I've had this album for a while! Whilst he has assembled quite an impressive group of musicians, the songs are too true to the originals to make the album anything special!

I really love this tribute album, these musicians add a lot to the original recording, while mantaining the original sound. Some songs are better than the original while others are different, and a few are not too good. Songs like Another Brick in the Wall pt1 and Is anybody out there are much better than the originals.

Very enjoyable on headphones.

So are the musicians able to cut loose on the songs?

I mean, can you tell it's Morse, or Wakeman, or Squire...?

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I just ordered it anyway.

Who can resist such a lineup?

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I have the album ... not really worth buying in (not only) my opinion.

Wow. To each his own, I guess. I, for one, can't fathom a "better version" of any track from The Wall.

Why would someone even do this? The Wall is such an intensely personal story.

I think I'll skip it.

The line-up sounds good, but I think Iīll listen to it at least once before purchasing it right away. Why isnīt anyone capable of producing a good tribute to The Dark Side of the Moon? Maybe this album is too perfect to be covered... Oh well, as long as I have my original LP...

The album is very similar to the original, perhaps with weaker guitars (Sherwood performed most of them, and even playing the same notes he is far from getting Gilmour's wonderful sound and soul). I like Ian Anderson's vocals and flutes in "The Thin Ice" and "Is There Anybody Out There?" and a couple of moments more, but this is not a must-have album at all even for PF fans.

Everyone keeps making tributes to this crappy album

When will they cover Ummagumma?

Okay.

I got it in the mail yesterday.

After one listen, I like it better than the original.

Other than Gilmours guitar, I found PF's version boring.  This one has musicians on it.

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

This was OOS when I ordered it. Weeks later it hadn't turned up so I cancelled. Often wondered if it was any good. Must admit I want musicians to stamp their own identity onto a work. So ...... I like  the Scissor Sisters version of Comfortably Numb so would I like this album??

You tried the Dub Side Of The Moon by the Easy Star All-Stars? If you like a bit of dub/reggae this album might just do it for you.
