"Psychedelic" = Prog

Hey you all guys!

Well, easy: What do you think of groups as Cosmic Hoffman, Dworzec, Bardo Pond, Charalambides, Christina and Tom Carter?

I'm a huge fan of psychedelic bands like these ones.

Aren't they prog? Just listen to Shiva Connection by Cosmic Hoffman...don't you remember to any of The Private Tapes by Ash Ra Tempel? Or Market Square by Charalambides isn't similar to Jenseits by Ash Ra Tempel?

I hear your comments.

The first album i heard by Bardo Pond was Lapsed (1997) wich isn't their first record, and i said: yep, that's ok, good band. Then i listened more albums Vol. 2, Vol. 3, Vol. 4 and so... i would say On The Ellipse (2003) wich blew my mind away, maybe it could happen to you.

The Bevis Frond was clearly psychedelic rock and there are plenty of groups that are psychedelic in the 90's

 

But drug induced music although it can be groundbreaking, mind-expanding, ear and eye openers does not automatically mean that it is progressive

I would have a strong tendency to classify lots of late 60's psych as proto-prog because they were groundbreaking back then, but for 80's and 9à's psych bands, I would then to see examine those group case by case

While I agree that The Orb was a truly progressive electronic act, I'd hesitate to call them rock. If we're willing to redefine the scope of this site to include non-rock acts, I have plenty of suggestions myself!
