I nominate 'Five Per Cent For Nothing' by Yes from 'Fragile' (written by Bill Bruford), that clocks in at under a minute.

'The End'- ELP ' Pictures At An Exhibition'. It is seperately accessable on the original Atlantic CD release.20 seconds long or thereabouts. It could be regarded as a complete seperate song although is generally taken as the end bit of 'The Great Gate Of Kiev'. The lyrics are:

There is no end to my life,no beginning to my death.Death is life.

I know they are not prog exactly but Art Of Noise must surely win for the shortest song ever. They have a song called "Bright Noise" which is only 3 seconds long!

I also go with Rösten by Anglagard (Epilog), beause Stormtroopers of Death (SOD)is a trash/heavy Metal band, not remotely prog. I believe Certif1ed got the prize.

I go with What Shall We Do Now?...a song listed on the Wall(at least on record format) on side two and yet never even existed...so that clocks in at 0....

I win!

Probably (and proud ) but in this case only quoted the description of genres I read on Allmusic.com with wich I agree after listening a sampler of one of their songs.

That's right!! SOFT MACHINE's British Alfabet... from the first album I ever purchased from them. Those were the times when I was definitely becoming a prog-head.
