Topic: Headphones or Speakers Posted: February 25 2006 at 17:42 |
Seeing though Prog isnīt background music I listen on headphones to get the full sound. I love to hear the different sounds move from ear to ear and hear all the intruments clearly.
So how do you listen to your Prog?

My speaker system on my computer is pretty good, but my CD and MP3
players are hooked up to nice earphones. I like the earphones better,
but not for listening at my computer.

Speakers always, by choice.
I have headphones but they can't deliver the deep, gut-thumping bass of my speakers. Computer speakers might be different; they have virtually no bass so headphones might be better. But my hifi blows away any computer system (and it's vinyl based, not CD!)

Big quality headphone are definitly the best to enjoy a rich sound, but when i went to sleep, it is quite incomfortable so speakers are ok for this use !
De plus, headphone makes kind of a barriere between you and the rest of the world wich is so great. I feel like one with the music, a kind of symbiosis ! ![](smileys/smiley20.gif)

I listen to my headphones 50% of the time Speakers 10% Computer speakers 15% and walkman earphones 25%
My headphones are Sennheiser HD600s and I get all the sound I need from them. I probably get through 5 albums a day.

I prefer speakers, but in the nighttime I put the headphones on. I also listen
a lot of music in the car (it has a very good sound system).
I like headphones, but I can't bear them for more than an hour and a half.

Speakers, because you feel the music as well.
But sometimes I have to use headphones.

Being a drummer I like my prog to emphasis the vibrations just like a real drum kit would if it was playing in the same room, in fact I like the room to shake, I want to feel the sound. For this reason I prefer listening to music through good quality powerful speakers, however good quality headphones I feel do reveal more in the way of production and overall sound quality, either way I`m happy , so long as the neighbors aren't complaining

50/50 for me. My computer is where I usually listen to music since it gives such good sound quality. I use headphones always at night though, help me go to sleep and I can just relax, close my eyes and watch what I'm listening to.

Je suis d'accord.
I use headphones at work (that is when I can put them on, I work in a scientific lab), and I enjoy the same sentiemnts you described, and its marvellous to enjoy great music like this. But, at home I usually use speakers to the discontent of my neighbours and occasionally my wife.
