I agree, FDA is a great person. Everytime I watch his "In concerto" DVD (recorded in 1998) I can't believe it was his last tour. ANDREW, was this PFM concert filmed? Which songs were performed? |

I was in Palalido of Milan in the spring of 1979 to listen Faber (the nickname of the songwriter Fabrizio De Andre') together with PFM. I'm still chilling remembering that evening !

Do you remember, did they performed songs which were not included in FDA-PFM albums (Vol. 1 and 2)? Franz Di Cioccio told about PFM collaboration with Fabrizio De Andre': "We chose about 30 songs and we shared equally our work." (http://www.pfmpfm.it/eng/main.htm). Probably more recordings from 1979 tour exist. |

Honestly... I don't remember. It happened more than 25 years ago ! In the two CD's (or LP's) should be all the song performed during the tour. I remember only that they didn't perform any PFM's song. Here is a link to a De Andre's fans group focused on PFM concert. http://www.viadelcampo.com/html/1978-79.html Altought, I advice to you an absolute masterpiece... Fabrizio De Andre' - Creuza de ma (1984). It is not properly progressive also if it was made together with Mauro Pagani that composed the music. It sounds more folk- mediterranean etnic than progressive... but sounds GREAT. It is sung in Genovese, an italian musical dialect, typical of Genoa, the city of Cristoforo Colombo, the discover of America. And remember that neither the great Peter Gabriel had performed in 1984 anythyng of similar !!!. Here is the link to the comment of Allmusic Last year has been produced by Mauro Pagani, for the 20th anniversary, a new version with more songs and special guests
Ciao ! P.s. in 1979, was a great surprise when the LP has been published. But the greatest surprise was the print of the second part in 1980. I have never understood why the label didn't published a double album !. Edited by MDOMANIN |

Testi di Fabrizio De Andrè This is his most famous song. Edited by ANDREW |

Thanks for the links and and other information. I like "Creuza de ma". But my favorite FDA albums are "Tutti morimmo a stento" and his last work, "Anima salve". And I highly recommend Fabrizio's DVD "In concerto" (recorded in 1998 and released in 2004 by BMG, Italy) both to FDA fans and newcomers. The DVD presents more than 2 hours of music, wonderfully performed by Suonatore Faber and 9-piece band of extra-class musicians. Unforgettable concert, really. About FDA - PFM live albums. I read somewhere that the record label didn't want to risk and released Vol. 1 first. When they saw that the album has great success, they issued Vol.2. Ciao! Edited by NotAProghead |

Grazie. A couple of years ago I bought FDA-PFM album (Vol.2) because of my interest to PFM and ... became a De Andre' fan. Great person, Italy's own, really! Now I can't say for sure who is more important for me - PFM or FDA. I know that Italian dialects differ from classic Italian language. There are even translations, in FDA albums booklets, from genovese and ligurian dialects to Italian. P.S. It's a shame, my knowledges in Italian language are in embryonic state. Dear Andrew, I'm from Sesto San Giovanni - Milan But I have a little flat in Camogli... and this is the reason of my love and little comprension for Genovese dialect... But I must admit also that my grandmother was of Sampierdarena For Notaproghead: A Photograph of Camogli... a tipical ligurian small town (to understand better the mood of Creuza de ma )

Camogli and Cinque Terre - wondreful places, small towns by the sea, far from the madness of big cities. Look like pieces of summer, grazie. |
