Where is the music? Some great filler material, but what is the point?
Some parts seem to be promising, yet nothing moves me. I would suggest spending more time hinting at the melody structure and using the parts you have as transitional pieces. Vocals are not always needed, but melody is a must. Check out some GYBE and see how they take the music you are playing to a different level. There definitely is talent there, don't be afraid to show it.

thanks for listening...I appreciate it. I selected these tracks to show the diversity of all of my works. Their are 4 albums released and these tracks I believe display the differences. I have better songs, but wanted to show another side of all of my works. I have another music.download.com site where I market that other stuff.
Thanks again for the feedback.

I couldn't download it...security reasons... (my parents)
But I can ask questions: what state are you from otis? How old are you? What's your band? What genre is it? What instrument do you play? How'd you get started? Do you have a record label? How do you get a record label?
I play bass and am trying to put together a band, but hardly anyone plays prog... So I'll probably have to wait 'till college. But I still need all the advice I can get! Please tell me some of the stuff!

From Pennsylvania, I'm 24, the Band is Oblivion is the Sky,the main genre is Experimental Progressive Rock, I play Guitar, Keyboard and Vocals. To get started...record some demos and work on them...post to some OMD's/ be active on forums...get a web presence of some kind...either on an OMD or your own website. Get exposure whereever you can...internet radio is a first step and easiest to get on...send your demos to college radio that play weird or experimental stuff...they will usually play prog. Don't sign anything that states EXCLUSIVE in it. Also dont join websites that have an agreement that states EXCLUSIVE.
Get listed on search engines as well. The best way to do this is to get a website...and then join music.download.com/soundclick.com/songplanet.com/pahardcore. com...since they have so much traffic...post some demos up there...place your link...and remember submit to google.com and yahoo.com...in about 3 weeks...you should be listed in searches if not the top of the searches.
That is how I would say you start in these days and times...Remember this is just to start.
I don't have a record label...and I don't want one yet...I have spoken to some A&R reps to get an idea of what is need and the process...but I dont want to lose freedom yet...if ever.
To get a record label...it would be smart to get a lawyer and/or business agent since most labels dont talk to the artist themselves...liablity problems. Indie labels are the best bet for prog. Indie's usually accept unsolicated demos so no agent is needed on your part. You need a press kit...pics, cds/vid/dvd, reviews, mech, show/events. All A&R pretty much expect that. some labels will accept mp3 submissions and no need for a presskit.

I find it hard to believe another band is playing the music I play and then they take it to the next level. Nothing bad about them...and not being righteous about myself...its just not feasible...I don't even adhere to a genre or style...if you actaully listened to these tracks...and many others I have on the internet...A gneralization to this degree is laughable. Perhaps you listened to 1 song...I could see that happening...from one song...you could get away with that comment. I seriously doubt another band would even try to play not only progressive rock, but pure progressive music (ie incorporation technology as well) with any element of almost ever kind of music...I'm even talkng techno sometimes. There is also folk music...not to mention the Space Rock Epics RUSH is known for. I dont compare this material to anything else...nor should I...these are demos and good cuts to show diversity in the music. I like the music...because why else would I have made it...but I dont think it is the greatest by any means...that is why the name of this topic is...does this sound ok? It is not entitled...get ready to hear something that is going to revive the genre to Progressive Rock. Thanks for your comment...it was appreciated.
p.s. I listened to that band...interesting...the only thing we have in common are our strange song titles and the genre of progressive rock...that really covers a lot of ground. They are a very good band with a ton of rotating members...so i have read... with really long songs...interesting.

You're real brave for posting something you made online for all to see and comment on. I know how it feels, when you try to show someone something and they don't like it or don't pay attention to it. I think otis deserves a hand.

thank you very much...it is hard and I don't think people realize the stress of wearing your hard work on your sleeve. It is easy to be a critque, because anybody can be one, and you are usually safe being one. Regardless if someone likes it or not...It's like being naked and having everybody look at you in a crowd...some may like it...most will not like it...some may even laugh...but hey...its exposure...lol.
it does take courage.
