Toto are a band that consists of fine musicians however at times I feel they don`t display the musicality that their caliber of technical ability deserves , my question is simple , do you consider Toto as prog ?

No, I've never thought of them as prog, but then I've not heard that much by them. Their singles didn't sound very prog to me. Rock/Pop/AOR etc?? |

I created another poll about them with more options ... not to replace this one, I'm interested how both of them turn out. I voted no, by the way. |

A friend recommended me to Toto about a decade ago, and I went through all the Toto records in his collection, so I think I am quite authorised to pronounce that there is no sign of prog in any of their output (unless they've changed radically in the last 10 years.) I also came to the conclusion that their entire output is mediocre homogeneous sounding rubbish. Every single album sounded like all the others to me.
But that's just my opinion. Prog? No way. Unless your definition of progressive is standing on the spot and reiterating the same chords/rhythm/metre/melody in every song. |
