Hi, it's quite possble I forgot some, but forgive, there's plenty of choice.

I like Flying Circus, The Office, Blackadder, The League of Gentlmen (all which are progressive/postmodern in their own way!!! amazing, you won't see so much genius in american comedy) and Fawlty Towers!

Choosing is difficult, but I'm mostly into the office now (changes every week)

I'm a big fan of quite a few of the listed shows. I still love Keeping Up Appearances the best. Hyacinth and Onslow are just great!

Allo Allo is also cool. I'm finally getting to see this for the first time here in the States. The best humor is clearly from Britain with Canada coming in a close second. Just my opinion.

Comedy Central is my favorite station. South Park is great, I also like stand up stuff. Mind of Mencia and Chapelle's Show is good.

From that list Fawlty Towers gets my vote. It's classic and timeless. It made me laugh as a kid and still cracks me up now.

I like everything on that list, so picking my fave was hard. I also really like League of Gentlemen and The Office. They are pure comedy genius IMO..

From this list I vote for Fawlty Towers but I also love The Office, Monty Python and Dad's Army. I can't stand Benny Hill though! Outside of this list, I really like Father Ted and Alan Partridge.

There are loads of great American comedies too. My favourite American comedies are Cheers and Just Shoot Me. I read an article in a magazine comparing British and American comedies and it said that series like Fawlty Towers only had about 12 episodes in total whereas The Simpsons and Friends have hundreds. Close run between Fawlty Towers and Dad's Army, but Dad's Army it has to be. Wonderful timeless humour, and terific characters. The master stroke was making Mainwairng the Captain, with Sgt. Wilson his deputy.

By the way, anyone remember a sitcom Arthur Lowe did called "Potter" with John Barron (CJ from Reggie Perrin). I don't think it's ever been repeated, but as I remember it, it was rather good.

I love Dad's Army - it was just soooo nice and cozy. It was truly family entertainment. I heard a sketch on the radio with someone impersonating Sgt Wilson as a barman "Could you see your drinks off now please if you wouldn't mind awfully. I'm sure you've all got lovely homes to go to.".

A-ha! I didn't think you'd let Alan Partridge slip through the net, Bob. That character is the best thing Steve Coogan ever created..

I'd agree with you about US comedy. There is some great stuff out there. I'll always prefer home grown comedy, as it's more in tune with my sense of humour, but I'm a sucker for US sitcoms, especially Friends and Frasier.

I was delighted to see that some cable channel was repeating 'Soap' too. I loved that when I was a kid.

I like Fawlty Towers and Monty Python's Flying Circus, but I voted for the last because nobody voted for it yet. 

I saw a new Ab Fab series recently and I found it isn't as funny as it used to be. The older stuff is great tho.

What about... KY TV? It was fun while it lasted.

No way, that's absolute genius! I watched both series in row one day when I was bored and when I stopped I felt like I'd been completely drugged up . Incredibly funny, though.

personally, I went for something a bit more traditional...Porridge...
