One thing that I have almost as much passion as Progressive Rock for is the great National Football League. I know outside of the US this sport isn't near as popular. You guys do not not know what you're missing. I really do not expect any replies to this thread...but this will give me 100 posts and supposedly make me into a Senior Member so why not!?!.....
GO RAIDERS!!
GO PACKERS!!
Boo to the Bears, Cowboys , Kansas City Chiefs and most of all......BOOOOOOOOO to the DENVER BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NFL is shown live in the UK. Why do you guys from North America always think that the rest of the world is a different planet. Our news gives us daily updates of what is happening in the US. Your news, according to the likes of Bill Bryson and Michael Moore only refers to the outside world if it involves an American. When that terrible thing happened in NY with the Twin Towers I got dozens of phone calls and e-mails from American and Canadian relatives informing us of it. We got the whole thing live at the same time as you guys!
We get North American Ice Hockey, Baseball, NFL, Horse Racing, Cnn, Bloomberg and god knows what all LIVE- probably Know more about American Football than the average Yank!!!

We get live baseball twice a week on Channel 5, more on a subscription channel. It's getting towards the playoffs now of course, I hope the Athletics can hang on (and then get further than the first round of the play offs this year!).

You can say what you like and I have no doubt that you know what it is...I was just talking about the interest. It is a FACT that american football generates ALOT less interest in Europe. Baseball and hockey are different stories as they are more world widely recognized. Look no further than the Olympics for proof to what I say. No Football there!! You guys have your soccer we have our football. I know what soccer is but my interest is far LESS
Now excuse while this Yank partakes in some NFL action!!!!!

Actually last time I was in Bath England... they were having an American football game going on that I could see from my hotel window. There is a European League (for American football). I have a friend who referees some of the games in Germany.
But what I find strange is a gay man who likes sports...hmmmmm

When the Bulls were good I used to go to Hunters all the time which is a gay bar in the Chicago suburbs and the atmosphere is electric with all the gay sports fans out there.
You should be more surprised by the fact I'm a republican and love Prog rock....I am ever the enigma

I am really surprised that none of them ever had sports on. Not even on the week days? I'll admit on weekends...no way!!! I have never looked at Prog rock bands as "Wow., look at him"....it's all about the music for me...
but I do remember some of your pics of ELP on the Island thread and was surprised how"nice" their backsides look

I'm not a big fan of the NFL since I come from a country where soccer is like the national sport. Every now and then, I watch the Monday Nights games or the playoffs, and obviously, the Super Bowl. I don't support a certain team, but I remember I was a Steelers fan back when I was a little kid (do I deserve a big old "booo" for that then? )
Peace!

Well I am not very fond of the Steelers at the moment and all those playoff games in the 70's would have frustrated me if I were old enough....The Immaculate Reception....I was 6 yrs old
I dislike the Bronco's and KC because they are in the Raider's division, the Bears because they are in the Packers division and Dallas.....well just because!!!!
so no boo to Land

Well, my Lions started off another season with a win. I'm hoping for at least six wins this year.
I get the most pleasure out of the 49er losses, though. I have a hundred 9er fans in my office and I love nothing more than seeing their sad sappy faces on Monday morning after the 9ers get their asses whipped. Ha.
Personally, I'm a hockey fan. Doesn't look like they'll be playing this year... Red Wings and Sharks are my teams.
