Reading the reviews for GENESIS' self-titled album, I kept seeing-time and again-people saying ILLEGAL ALIEN was a terrible song. Stupid me "I'll believe it when I see it" had to go and watch the damn video yesterday! Now, I can safely agree...it is one of the tackiest and dumbest "songs" I believe I'm ever heard!
I'm giving it a miss (i.e.; this is disgusting), cause they've done so much better.
What do you think?

It's a good song if taken on its own merit. But compared to other songs on the same album (Home By The Sea, Second Home By The Sea, Silver Rainbow) then its just so-so.
Overall I like the album though.

To be honest, I know of far worse songs than this one- I'd take it over anything from the dire 'Calling All Stations'. I'd vote so-so..

Voted "good" as
well. Sure, it's quite silly, when watching the video you don't know if
you want to cry or laugh, and it doesn't feel very serious at all. But
it's still quite a good, catchy song in my opinion, and the theme is
okay. It was, and still is a big problem with the illegal immigration
from Mexico to the USA.
What I would really like to hear is the opinions from Mexicans about this song. It would certainly add perspective.

Catchy tune, funny lyrics, very funny video  .
Mind you, I won't compare it with ye olde Genesis, no no no, that's quite a different story. And yes, Home By The Sea, and that other (Second) Home By The Sea are much better as well, but, still...
... it's nice!

A sure sign that these guys were losing the plot
did genesis ever really succeed in pop music, despite the record sales?
seems to me they never quite made the same quality of contribution to pop as they did prog.
in fact they just sank deeper and deeper into absurdity.
worst of all, i first got into them around the time of abacab and had my heart broken time and time again...only love can do that.
Illegal Alien should be erased

Funny, I feel the same when mediocre USA engeneers come to OUR country and gain $ 30,000.00 a month in OUR mines exploiting OUR mineral when there are capable engeneers here working as taxi drivers.
The difference is that Illegal Aliens go to USA to gain cents and here USA citizens come to recieve thousands of dollars.
