Anyone on here like (or even heard of) this band?  For those who don't know, it's a group consisting of a few members of Godspeed You Black Emperor, and while their songs are less climactic, they're very melancholy and beautiful (driven largely by violin).  If you're a fan of GYBE, what are you waiting for?  Go pick up one of their albums (Born Into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upwards is my personal favorite).

Also, if GYBE deserves a place in the archives, so do they.

I like GYBE, Silver Mt. Zion and Do Make Say Think... I'll try these others. Post Rock is a refreshingly relaxing break from the over the topness of progressive rock. Its nice to minimalism done so big.

Yes, they are brilliant and one of the most emotional live performances I've ever seen.

Most artists on Constellation records are pretty damn good. Also there's Molasses, Esmarine and Set fire to flames. All doing a similiar thing and made up of GY!BE people.

Is there a case to be made for saying that Post Rock is Ambient Prog

Constellation & Kranky are great labels with an excellent roster of artists.

I must remind the right honourable gentleman that a monologue is not a decision.
