Topic: Prog Album Survivor! Version 1.0 Posted: November 27 2005 at 19:56 |
Ok, here's a really cool idea I got from another forum I hit up every
once in a while. It's called "Album Survivor!" and here's how it works:
You start by taking a CD and all the tracks from that CD. For
experimental and thread-starter purposes, let's take a undisputed
classic album: King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King.
21st Century Schizoid Man
I Talk to the Wind
Epitaph
Moonchild
In The Court of the Crimson King
Now, the point of album survivor is to truly find out which is the
"best" song on the album (not a very experimental way of doing things,
but it's damn fun!) All you have to do is post the song that, out of the choices remaining, you would choose to get kicked off the CD.
After, say, five votes are tallied for a song, that song gets kicked
off the album, and its back to square one, with all votes restarting.
Only the forum starter (ME!) will post the full ist of songs with
updated votes every few moments. The last two songs remaining must get
ten votes to get knocked off.
I will start things off:
My vote is for "Moonchild"
21st Century Schizoid Man
I Talk to the Wind
Epitaph
Moonchild - 1
In The Court of the Crimson King
As you can see, simply post just the song you want kicked off the CD. At
five votes, the song is kicked out, and the race is restarted with the
remaining songs, all back to zero votes. The final song standing is,
thus, the "best" song on the album! Yay, fun!
If there are any questions, please ask them before voting
So....let's get it on!
Current Standings:
21st Century Schizoid Man
I Talk to the Wind
Epitaph
Moonchild - 1
In The Court of the Crimson King
Edit: Moved by me from the polls section to here. Disregard the thread in the polls section on the same thing!

Moonchild is what makes this album a non classic for me, up to that point and beyond it, the album is perfect, then it all gets sucked away by that pointless noodling in Moonchild, so ya know where I stand..

As this is effectively a poll, with little discussion about the album, I've moved it to prog polls.

couldn't agree more with that, a classic in the historical sense, but hell I'd rather listen to In the Wake of Poseidon.
