id would definitely would like to know what is the favorite music of people in the greatest era for music in all time thats right the 70s

personaly mine would surley be THe PINK FLOYDS , music wouldnt be the same without them of course im talking about their old albums until roger waters left the band

so who do u think is the greatest musicians and why ?

Back in the 1970s I could have given a categorical answer: ELP, but now I just find it impossible to single out one band as a favourite - there are quite a few good bands and albums and, for me, the favourite probably changes every time I listen to an album from one of the 'greats' of the '70s.

When talking about writing skills, my fave ones are the Nocenzi brothers in BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO, and the Shulmans/Minnear in GENTLE GIANT as gold medal earners.

The Genesis fivesome were also accomplished writers: once Hackett was given some more room, the writing became increasingly more amazing. Specially for Rutherfors, who felt positively challengeds to work on his 12-strin guitar harmonies. The guys in Yes and JT's Ian Anderson were also great writers, of course. Let's not forget Livgren from Kansas and Wyatt/Watkins/Whitaker from Happy the Man. I give them all my personal silver medal.

Viv Stanshall was quite some character! I presume you watched the documentary about his life on BBC2 recently? (apologies if your not from the UK!)

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned King Crimson. Surely you jest!   Robert Fripp has written some of the most intricate, bizarre, and yet beautiful rock instrumentals from 1969-1975 of the band's various incarnations. One of my favorites, "Fracture"(from Starless And Bible Black) just blows my mind, even after being a fan for 5 years.

Also, Genesis between the years of 1970-1981 were unbeatable(yes, I'm including Abacab, because strangely it's one of my fav Genesis records - after that, they died a slow death, though ), also any Pink Floyd lineup, Steve Hackett and Tony Banks solo, and I'll throw David Bowie in there to boot. There are so many talented artists that were making great music in the 70s, though, so it's hard to choose. I'll stop here before I start rambling!
