mine, is by far, live from the Archives. actually, every live recording from that set is better than the studio versions. i wish they'd release more like that. i don't mind the overdubs at all, i friggin loved them all.

	My personal opinion is the studio version though the Archives version is still very good. The Seconds Out one doesn't even compare to either.

	The soft sections in the studio version are magnificent. But the rocking sections come across better in Archives, because Steve's guitar parts are more present. To me.

	The studio version. I never listen to the Seconds Out version. Although I like Phil as a singer in general, I really don't like him singing that song, because you can hear that he doesn't understand it.

	Studio version wins hands down. I think the Seconds Out version was a waste of an album side. There was no need for it. Side three should have had a few more songs from WAW or some other Gabriel materiel that Collins could re-produce convincingly. Eleventh Earl of Mar and Fountain of Sal Marcis would have been nice, IMO.
	Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

	Studio for me too. From the sublime guitar intro, the deep lyrics, the madness of Willow Farm through to Genesis' best prog moment in Apocalypse. The studio version captures this all magically.

	Studio. The Archives version beats it in places but doesn't have the same power in the closing section. The Seconds Out version is too slow in this section and Collins doesn't sing it properly. Oh, I forgot, the studio version has the best intro with the dual vocals an octave apart. Edited by chopper

	As a Tronmaniac I go for the Archives rendition, mainly because of the more omnipresent Mellotron waves but also because, in my opinion, it sounds more powerful and emotional than the studio-version. The Seconds Out version has spendid interplay between organ and drums but I miss Peter Gabriel his wonderful, very distinctive voice. By the way, nice to read all those subjective opinions, almost every proghead has his own feelings and explanations, me too!

	I usually prefer live versions compared to sterile studio takes, in this case too. As for choosing between Peter or Phil singing, I don't have to think for long... One more benefit that the Archives' version has is Peter's funny and absurd introduction.

	I bet theres more people out there that prefer the Seconds Out version than are letting on. I prefer it. Deride me as much as you like but you've got to admit I'm brave. I love gabriel era Genesis but I personally don't think he had a brilliant voice at that time. I'm now waiting for the torrent of abuse for giving an honest opinion.

	It's a toss up between the studio version and the bootleg from the Rainbow Theater in '73 for me. Obviously, the studio version is exactly how they wanted it, every detail perfectly placed and performed. That makes it the best, knowing that that's how they meant it to be. The bootleg w/ Peter Gabriel is 23 minutes of pure spine-tingling, Genesis magic. Gabriel is outstanding. And to think that they performed it live....Geez, I wouldn't have minded being in that crowd.

	MUCH prefer the 'Seconds out ' version, the vocals, to me, are about equal but the playing and ESPECIALLY the sound quality utterley crap on the awful sounding studio version. The drumming alone make the 'Seconds out' version FAR superior.
