Overdoing it with two of these topics today. Little else I wish to do until I get over a cough. Again this poll comes in three sections and an "other" (see details on when to use), and again multiple voting is not enabled.

The first eight are taken from the unfiltered, except by year, Prog Archives Top Album Chart for 2013. The second eight is taken from the top twelve listed albums of the 2013 Collab Album of the Year topic -- there were four duplicated listings with the top eight PA chart so I did not duplicate those in the poll. The third eight is from my top 10 Awesome Prog for 2013 list (two of my top ones were already listed for the poll in the collab top albums).

"Other" as a voting option is intended to use if you don't like any of the listed options. That said, I would ask people to mention their favourites on and off the list. If, for instance, your favourite on the list is 5. Big Big Train's English Electric (Part Two), but your actual favourite is New Kids On The Block's 10 , then I request voting for and mentioning BBT's album in a post while also mentioning NKotB's as being your actual favourite album of 2013.

So I would like to hear about what people like both on AND off the list if applicable and, to reiterate, for the "other" voting poll option only to be used if nothing is liked that is already listed. Mention as many of your favourites as you like, both and off the list. And feel free to mention what you don't like that is listed too, and then preferably why it does not appeal.

PA Progressive Rock Top Eight for 2013

1. Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing (and Other Stories) (Crossover)
2. Haken - The Mountain (Heavy)
3. Camel - The Snow Goose (Re-recording) (Symphonic)
4. Birds and Buildings - Multipurpose Trap (Eclectic)
5. Big Big Train - English Electric (Part Two) (Crossover)
6. Unreal City - La Crudeltà di Aprile (RPI)
7. David Maxim Micic - Bilo 3.0 (Prog Metal)
8. Ritual - Nemrud (Psych/Space)

From the Top 12 Collaborators' Top Albums of 2013

Steven Wilson – The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories) (Collab Album of the year not listed in this poll section due to being in the PA top eight chart)
Haken – The Mountain (Collab AOTY runner-up not in this poll section due to being listed already)
1. Kayo Dot – Hubardo (RIO/Avant) (really in third place)
2. Spock’s Beard – Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep (Symph)
3. Riverside – Shrine of New Generation Slaves (Prog Metal)
Big Big Train – English Electric (Part Two) (omitted from this poll section as listed already)
Birds and Buildings – Multipurpose Trap (omitted from this poll section as listed already)

6. Chrome Hoof – Chrome Black Gold (Crossover)
7. Motorpsycho - Still Life With Eggplant (Eclectic)

From my top ten at Awesonme Prog

1. Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest (not in PA, IDM)

Wow, Sigur Ros is on PA? I didn't know.
"The term post-rock was coined by Simon Reynolds in issue 123 of The Wire (May 1994) to describe a sort of music "using rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes, using guitars as facilitators of timbres and textures rather than riffs and powerchords." "
I see, makes sense... I didn't know that concept.

Unreal City.
The label sent me a copy of In Hoc Signo for a review but i've never been able to write it. The album didn't kick for me despite the interesting concept and the good playing
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

From the list I went Motorpsycho. Kind of an odd year for me with a few psychedelic records standing out for me at the top. Like...
Monomyth- s/t
Pyramidal- Frozen Galaxies
Papir/Electric Moon- Papermoon Sessions

Album of the year for me is Caillou's debut. And Grand General's debut is also right near the top.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

From the list, Chrome Hoof, what a wild album that was. I wish they had continued on. Really I wonder if Cuneiform maybe wasn't the best label for them, although it's how I discovered them and I did eventually consume their entire back catalogue because of this album so I'm glad they were there. Not much else like them out in the big wide world.

Other greats on the poll - Sigur Ros, Motorpsycho (one of my favourites by them), Birds and Buildings. And the only Steven Wilson album I can say I love, not just like and respect. Raven is my favourite song by him.

Outside this list, albums from this year I loved:

Clive Nolan - Alchemy - Take the cheese of prog rock, the cheese of broadway musicals, and combine them, you get this. I honestly don't know how large the audience for this kind of music, but I'm part of it. I've listened to a few of his other musicals but this one is his best one imo, and I still have songs from it in various playlists I listen to.

Goldfrapp - Tales of Us - This was actually my first Goldfrap, so stylistically I didn't realize it doesn't match her regular style. Just these great, spare, singer-songerwriter tracks about different people, very atmospheric and lovely. I've listened to a few of her other albums since this one and they're ok, but this one is my favourite.

Kishi Bashi - Lighght - Great violin driven indie music. One of his best.

Leprous - Coal - The one that converted me to a fan.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away - one of my favs by him, including two of my all time fav tracks by him, 'Jubilee Street' and 'Higgs Boson Blues'. But there is not a dull track on this one. I really like the way he uses his voice on some of the tracks.

Orphaned Land - All is One - I really love how melodic this album is, and how hard the emotions hit because of that. 'Children' and 'All is One' are my fav tracks.

I went back to my collaborator list for this year and hit 6 of my top 7. I forgot my #1 album though (Chrome Hoof was #2) - Snacks by miRthkon! Whoops! Yeah, that was great.

I also apparently had " La Maschere di Clara" in position 8 and I don't even remember who they are. Listening to them for probably the first time in 12 years right now.
