I'm the founder of Fallen Letters, a progressive rock / metal band from Bangalore, India - We have some Alternative metal undertones as well, and we're hugely inspired by Katatonia, and I checked what they're tagged here under, so we thought we fit the Progressive Metal genre but we have more Rock songs in the first EP than Metal I'd say, but the new album leans more towards Progressive Metal. Would love to hear thoughts about it, as we're struggling to really fit our sound into one single genre tbh. But this is the suggestion. About the band - Fallen Letters is a dynamic Progressive Rock/Metal band with strong Alternative Metal undertones, based in Bangalore, India. Drawing inspiration from influential acts such as Blackfield, Deftones, Opeth, and Katatonia, they channel their passion for Alt/Prog Rock and Metal into crafting a unique and captivating sound. Within the music of Fallen Letters, a mystique and charm reminiscent of the unknown are unveiled, shining a transformative light upon their artistry. Their debut EP, Forlorn Pages, released in 2024, earned critical acclaim for its richly layered soundscapes and emotional depth, and established Fallen Letters as a rising force in the Prog Rock/Metal scene. Now, the band is hard at work on new material for their debut album, set for release in 2025. With intricate instrumentation and emotionally charged storytelling. Streamable links - Writings about the band / music - Would love to hear your thoughts on this, looking forward! ![]() |

I filled in the available supported links on Awesome Prog, which is the site most of our evaluation teams use to track their evaluations, and where the band had been discovered on RateYourMusic by a search robot, and the 'Forlorn Pages' album is tagged on RYM as primarily as 'Progressive Rock' - with 'Alternative Metal', 'Gothic Rock', 'Progressive Metal' and 'Doom Metal' listed as the secondary genres.
On Awesome Prog itself, with the Bandcamp tags now also taken into account, we have 'Gothic' 'Prog' Post' and 'Shoegaze/Doom'. I'm not hearing a great deal of metal in 'Forlorn Pages' myself, but it's an excellent EP, and I think it definitely belongs on the site. To me though, bearing mind the wide mix of genres and sub genres it covers, I would say that Crossover Prog would be the most appropriate sub. However, if the forthcoming album is going to see the band taking a more metallic direction, maybe it's worth waiting for that to drop before an evaluation is carried out? Do you have a release date pencilled in for the album yet?

^ That's certainly true of the closing track 'Beneath the Opaque Veil', but if you strip that out from the EP most of the remainder of it didn't seem all that heavy to me. There's an excellent video of them performing 'Beneath the Opaque Veil' live here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNprZ0VMlgw, but I can't embed it or even add the hyperlink because for some strange reason every time I try the uppercase 'N' in the video identifier gets turned into a lowercase 'n' and you get a 'video unavailable' error, so the URL will have to be opened in another tab. I'm looking forward to hearing the full album when it's released, that's for sure.

Thanks for getting to it so quickly, really appreciate it. I don't mind sending in the album much earlier than the release date if that helps, or a bunch of singles we have ready? The plan is to drop 2-3 singles from next album and then release full-album in around July or August. I think by the looks of it, we may have 1 or 2 tracks like Beneath the Opaque Veil again and others more in the Progressive Rock genre itself (with some shoegaze and doom elements). Do I have to share the songs via email? If yes, which one's? Thanks again!

^ The normal method used on PA for sharing music samples is to upload them to a file-hosting service such as Dropbox, Google Drive etc, and then give the link to the leader of the team carrying out the evaluation via private message, who will in turn pass the link to any other collaborators who need to listen to the samples.
Although at the moment it has not been decided which team is going to be evaluating your music, it seems that it will most likely be the Progressive Metal team, with perhaps the Crossover team as a possible alternative. Cristi looks after both of these teams, so he would be the best person to pass your samples to. I'm listening to your acoustic solo album 'Fragments of Serenity' from December 2021 at the moment (tagged as Dark Folk on RYM), and enjoying that too. I'll try to give the recently released 'Aeons of Stillness' album a spin tomorrow as well. |

Thank you, I'll send it to Cristi once I have some more music mastered to evaluate. Will wait on his response here.
Re: Solo music - Thank you so much for checking it out, appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoy it, would love to know what you think about the new album once you get to it.
