   Ubu Imperator are a Munich-based neo-krautrock trio active since 2022, consisting of guitarist Simon Bartenschlager, synthesist Raphael Höps and drummer Daniel Pizarro. The band took their name from the infamous proto-Dadaist play Ubu Roi by French writer Alfred Jarry.
Affiliated with Klangschutz Schallplatten, Ubu Imperator introduced their take on the Düsseldorf School template via their eponymous debut EP in October 2022, operating along the lines of contemporary groups Eat Lights Become Lights, Camera and Einseinseins. 2024 saw the release of Ubu Imperator's first two full-length albums: May's Fruhtrunk, created to score an Günther Fruhtrunk art exhibition in Munich, and November's Eroc-produced Ave Ubu.
