I see a new Nektar album is set to be released on 30th June, four years on from 'The Other Side' which was arguably their best effort since reforming, keeping the Albrighton spirit alive (admittedly being helped with the revival of previously unreleased material from the era).

So, with a couple of departures but Mo Moore still at the helm and with only four tracks, what do any of you know about this release and, are you looking forward to it with eager anticipation??
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I had no idea they were putting out a new album until I saw it featured on the front page of PA! LOL

Very excited to hear this one after really digging The Other Side. I'll probably pick this up along with their most recent live album that also sounds really good after hearing a few tracks on Space Pirate Radio awhile back.

Hi,

Nektar was one of the many bands that featured in SPR for many years, and I think the first album played was "A Tab In The Ocean" ... which Guy had picked up at Moby Disk in 1972, I believe, before the actual show started. That same night Guy also got Phaedra (TD) and SEBTP (Genesis).

We saw them on their first tour at the Santa Monica Civic and I wish there was a recording of it, as the version of Marvellous Moses in that show was far different from what eventually came out in "Recycled" ... at least that is how I remember it. Also saw them in the next tour and I don't remember where.

While I do not dislike a lot of the things they are doing now, I really miss the "soul" of the band with Roye, and his outstanding singing ... which was from the heart and so deep that it really made you feel it and shake ... I actually cried on the last piece on "Recycled" knowing that something was not right with Roye and the rest of the material, for the most part, they already had it.

Other than that, a hello to Mo ... for trying and believing ...

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Listen Up, Nektarines... Big smile

Looks like it's (finally!) dropping this Friday:

Who's excited? I'm playing 'The Other Side' to get into the mood... if it's anywhere near as good as this, we'll be in for a late summer treat!
