January is my favorite. Especially the demo which is loaded with Mellotron flute!

I don't remember Just a Smile, but the other two are great songs, although I didn't think so at the time. Two of them went on to play with Kate Bush.

Quite right. David Paton and Ian Bairson played on "The Kick Inside" and "Lionheart".

Paton and Bairnson along with Stuart Tosh also played with the Alan Parsons Project, and Steve Swindells went on to play with the Hawklords, so there's a lot of prog connections out of the original pilot line-up.

As for the best of Pilot (IMHO), these two, which were joined up on the original album :

Library Door I find to be a little bland but Get Up and Go is a little masterpiece! <3

January - purely because it's my birth month.
Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

Has anybody listened to the album Solo Casting by the original Pilot keyboard player Billy Lyall? It's even on PA!

I can see how you would come to this conclusion. "Get Up and Go" has that classic Pilot sound, whereas "Library Door" moves away from that somewhat.

What struck me when I first heard these two songs together was precisely that contrast, and that is why I feel the two songs need to be heard joined together as presented on the album, to get that full effect.

Yes, I have this album, and I find it a very listenable if you like that Pilot sound.
