Opinions?
Just listened to it. |

Across the evening sky,
all the birds are leaving, But how can they know, it's time for them to go? Before the winter fire, I will still be dreaming, I have no thought of time. |

I enjoyed the official video immensely. Almost shed a tear by the end with the Beatles fading into the shadows of history with a bit of Sgt. Peppers-era orchestration in the background.

Thanks for the link. I wasn't sure what "Now and Then" related to as there's no mention of The Beatles in the thread title. I'm going to beetle off somewhere else now.

I listened to the song on its own for the first time this morning, and tbh found it rather flat and boring. I haven't watched the video yet. Perhaps the video will lift the song somewhat. Edited by LAM-SGC - November 04 2023 at 12:09 |

Interestingly there is a new Rolling Stones album that hit #1 in many nations AND a new Beatles single! Talk about NOW & THEN :D

Disappointing. Contrived. Unnecessary. |

True from a musical point of view but the marketing machine that owns The Beatles has been brilliant in keeping the band relevant and in the eyes of the newer generations for decades. Gimmicky? For sure. Lackluster? Oh yeah. Unnecessary? Perhaps but nevertheless one has to admire the tenacity of the Fab Four's legacy. God forbid if Yoko finds another cache of recordings of demos though! |

Seems to me the Crims are doing a more impressive job of maintaining both an admirable past & a healthy present by reinventing themselves far more and for far longer than anyone could've imagined. People still talk about them, and the slackers remember Discipline as the mind-blowing breakthrough it was in the early 1980s, fifteen years after they'd recorded their debut. You just can't say the same of the Fab Four. |
