I got up very early as I was unable to sleep, so I put this together while passing the time.

This is the 4th period topic. The idea is to only list one track off an album from the 2005 to 2009 period, but you can list as many/ as few tracks as you wish. **I decided to limit to thirty tracks off studio albums but then really wanted to add the Portishead single "Chase the Tear" to my list. EDIT: and now I decide to add two more as I had neglected Mr. Music for Insomniacs himself, Matt Berry.

My list:

* Angels of Light "Star Chaser" (We Are Him, 2007, Folk Rock, Gothic Country, Exp. Rock)
* The Antlers "Kettering" (Hospice, 2009, Indie Rock)
* Matt Berry "White Hood" (Opium, 2008, Psych Pop)
* Matt Berry "The Pheasant" (Witchazel, 2009, Psych Pop, British Folk Rock)
* Boards of Canada "Satellite Anthem Icarus" (The Campfire Headphase, 2005, Folktronica, Downtempo)
* Boredoms "Tilde" (Vision Creation Newsun, 2009, Experimental Psych Rock)
* Broadcast "I Found the F" (Tender Buttons, 2005, Indietronica)
* Vashti Bunyan "Turning Backs" (Lookaftering, 2005, Chamber Folk, Singer-Songwriter)
* Kate Bush "A Coral Room" (Aerial, 2005, Art/ Ambient Pop)
* Coil "Fire of the Mind" (The Age of Naples, 2005, Post-Industrial, Electronic, Darkwave)
* Current 93 ‎- "Idumæa" (Vocals - Baby Dee) (Black Ships Ate the Sky, 2006, Neofolk)
* William D. Drake "Seahorse" (Briny Hooves, 2007, Art Rock, Chamber Folk)
* Elephant9 "Doctor Honoris Causa" (Dodovoodoo, 2008, Jazz Fusion, Progressive Rock)
* Espers "Rosemary Lane" (The Weed Tree, 2005, Psych Folk)
* PJ Harvey "The Mountain" (White Chalk, 2007, Singer-Songwriter, Chamber Folk)
* Isengrind/TwinSisterMoon/Natural Snow Buildings "Spells" (The Snowbringer Cult, 2008, Drone, Psych/Avant Folk)
* Kayo Dot "Immortelle and Paper Caravelle" (Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue, 2006, Exp. Rock)
* Kayo Dot "Blue Lambency Downward" (Blue Lambency Downward, 2008, Avant-Prog)
* Magma "Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré II" (Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré, 2009, Zeuhl)
* Natural Snow Buildings "John Carpenter" (The Dance of the Moon and the Sun, 2006, Drone, Psych Avant Folk)
* Natural Snow Buildings "Carnal Flowers" (Daughters of Darkness, 2009, Drone, Free Folk)
* Natural Snow Buildings "Gorgon" (Shadow Kingdom, 2009, Drone, Psych Folk)
* Joanna Newsom "Only Skin" (Ys, 2006, Chamber/Progressive Folk)
* North Sea Radio Orchestra "Kingstanding" (North Sea Radio Orchestra, 2006, Chamber Folk)
* OOIOO "SAI" (Taiga, 2006, Experimental Psych Rock
* Portishead "The Rip" (Third, 2008, Electronic, Experimental Rock)
** Portishead "Chase The Tear" (single, 2009, Krautrock, Electronic, Minimal Wave)
* Radiohead "Reckoner" (In Rainbows, 2007, Art/Alt. Rock)
* Secret Chiefs 3 "Barakiel" (Xaphan: Book of Angels Volume 9, 2008, Experimental, Avant-Prog)
* Sigur Rós "Glósóli" (Takk..., 2005, Post-Rock, Dream Pop)
* St. Vincent "Black Rainbow" (Actor, 2009, Art/Indie Pop, Indie Rock)
* Sufjan Stevens "The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us!" (Illinois, 2005, Chamber Pop)
* Robert Wyatt "Stay Tuned" (Comicopera, 2007, Canterbury Scene)

I was tempted to remove Magma's E-Re II as it does not work very well alone (great how it moves from E-Re I) and I removed a track from Guapo's Black Oni because I felt it too lacking on its own. I had thought to include Miasma and the Carousel of Headless Horses as I liked Perils a lot when it came out but I guess my ears are not now attuned to it. I write a glowing review for Chrome Hoof's Pre-Emptive False Rapture many years ago, but today it is not appealing.

Here is playlist of my choices.

Here are the past topics that this grew from (hope people's mentions get some viewing and it would be nice if more add their lists):

Topic: #3: Your 2010-2015 tracks faves (one per album0 (CLICK)
2016-2019: Album tracks, one track per album (CLICK)
One per act: 2020s tracks under ten minutes, or... (CLICK)

Hope to see some more lists, and maybe I will figure out some way to highlight people's lists better. I am interested in seeing what people like generally, and I have discovered great-for-me music from doing list topics many times.

^ Glad you enjoyed it. That's a particular favourite of mine.

As for yours, I travelled down the Oregon coast in 2006 playing The Way Up (amongst various albums), which I had borrowed from the library. I had borrowed that, Peter Gabriel's Up (2002) (Ups for travelling down) and David Bowie's Heathen (2002) because I am. That was an excellent trip.

I knew In Cahoots's "Conspiracy Theories", very nice. Good to listen again. If it had a heavier bass and heavier groove I would call it Zeuhl. :)

OK one per year, spontaneously selected. There's so much more. Shocked
2005 Tristeza - Halo Heads (A Colores)
2006 Kante - Die Tiere sind unruhig (Die Tiere sind unruhig)
2007 Hattler - Assalamu Alaikum (Live Cuts)
2008 Irmin Schmidt & Kumo - Raketenstadt (Axolotl Eyes)
2009 Svarte Greiner - The Black Dress (Knive)

Various North Sea Radio Orchestra tracks of course also worth nominating but I won't open that box of Pandora (or any other... no, stop now!).
