I'm actually quite surprised this band isn't already on here. I posted them in the what are you listening section yesterday.

Kayanis is a Polish symphonic prog band with six full length releases so far. On their Where Abandoned Pelicans Die release, from 2007, there is a very strong classical element which seems to involve an actual orchestra but there are also elements of metal, pop, prog and maybe other things as well. Much of it is instrumental but there are vocal sections also.

Here is the bandcamp page: https://shorturl.at/foEF1 and here is the RYM page: https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/kayanis

I am submitting them for symphonic prog but crossover prog might also be a possibility. While there is some metal in this (mainly because of occasional metal guitars) I would not classify this as any kind of prog metal overall.

Thanks. I remember you buying a lot from Kinesis. That's actually where I got this cd from.

Update: Symphonic voted to move to Crossover. Crossover will evaluate next. Please give us some time. Some members are really busy at the moment.

Wow. That's really surprising. I hear some crossover in it but it mostly sounds symphonic (at least the one I have). There's a whole orchestra on it for crying out loud. Lol. You can't get much more symphonic than that. Regardless, I appreciate you taking the time to get others to evaluate them.

We currently have two yes votes for Crossover, but two of our team members are currently busy with work/life stuff outside of PA and haven't been able to vote yet. We have a small backlog of submissions also. I apologize for the delay, but this is out of my control.

I believe you can see the status of the voting here:

^No, I didn't see anything about voting on that. Anyway, thanks for looking into it.

The voting record used to be visible to the public when it was Progfreak. I logged out and noticed that it wasn't visible, so looks like it is no longer visible to non-account users (or non-PA-chart-assigned users??). Anyway, when my other two team members come back and vote on it, we'll post an update here. I have no idea how long they are going to be away. Hope they're both doing OK.
