Rubber Soul without a doubt. Ah, there's also A Love Supreme... then Rubber Soul with a little bit of doubt.

A Love Supreme, very easy choice, but also fond of Rubber Soul. That Dylan album is a classic, but he's never been "my guy". Those Byrds + The Who albums are alright too. I think a more than half of their selections for each year or bulk are lazy and often plain wrong. There's some completely inessential stuff that's forgotten for good reasons too. The ones who made collected these 1001 albums don't come across as qualified. Not for these, the early years of albums. I'm not suggesting my selections in these threads would do a better job (some of the/my albums would be definitely be better suited though). They reflect my personal tastes 100%. I'm not trying to be objective about it.

-Ten favorites for another year that's all about jazz for me. The genuinely interesting and advanced music was almost exclusively made by Afro Americans imo. Midsixties rock/popular music was just cute in comparison.

Andrew Hill - Point of Departure
Anthony Williams - Life Time
Ahmad Jamal - Extensions
Pete La Roca - Basra
Paul Desmond - Glad to Be Unhappy
Sun Ra & His Solar Arkestra - Secrets of the Sun
Bobby Hutcherson - Dialogue
Grachan Moncur III - Some Other Stuff
Grant Green - Idle Moments
Nina Simone - Pastel Blues
