These 18 albums primarely have in common that they were all released in 1988. From about 1985 and onwards these New Wave polls has featured very little New Wave. Spirit of Eden is incredible. It sounds (or sounded) like nothing else from this year of this decade. So regardless of my issues with these latest polls, they still get my vote.

The "New Wave" albums are getting decidedly thin on the ground now. This is the first New Wave poll where I've been unable to fill all 25 available slots and there are still two more years left to go.

I own ten from 1987 poll.   1988?  Just two...Peepshow and Talk Talk. Wink

If it wasn't for Spirit of Eden, Peepshow would surely have gotten my vote. Love it! Siouxsie And The Banshees were one of the few from that late 1970's/early 1980's era that kept releasing inspired and interesting albums.

Coincidentally, that's the same number of albums I own in this poll, by Prefab Sprout and Talk Talk.

Soda Stereo. But from 1988, I like this one better:

I'd choose Talk Talk but that band wasn't new wave any more. They were the first post-rock band.

Siouxie and the Banshees for me

I couldn't possibly consider leaving the much-loved Spirit of Eden out of the poll, even if it's not strictly a New Wave album. Smile

It’s not even remotely new wave

What’s the point of having a new wave poll if you have non new wave albums?

Might as well add Metallica and justice for all if that’s the case

Talk Talk are here simply because they're categorised as a New Wave band, both on Google and Wikipedia. Smile
